Almost every other logo in this article looks better.  I really like the one in lower center with the brown tower.

There's merit to that opinion.  The challenge for each host city is to not go broke trying to pull off a successful olympics.  How did Athens do financially?

The games themselves will be fantastic... but do you not think they should have stuck with the old logo? That actually looked nice. I liked the five-colour ribbon running through the letters

You're so pessimistic. The guys in charge of the logo aren't the guys in charge of the rest of it. Plus, with so much negativity winding its way through the media, it wouldn't surprise me if they change the logo again... hopefully back to the old one.

The people in charge are the same. They're responsible for organising everything & allocating the contracts. Going by this fiasco they don't seem to have any idea of what they're doing or how to go about it. We've seen it all before. I'm afraid this country doesn't have the best reputation for this sort of thing. Take the Millennium Dome & Wembley Stadium as examples. Need I say more?

I don't know why they didn't hold some sort of competition for that logo & offer a prize for the winning entry. This would have cost a lot less & they would have ended up with a decent logo. Our chaps in the Studio V forum would have stood a good chance of winning.

Yeah, the guys at the top have overall charge. But they then delegate jobs such as coming up with a logo to departments set up to do the job - they don't do it themselves. Mind you, whatever nitwit approved that logo for use should indeed be slung out before he knows what's hit him
