I think you have got the wrong end of the Spanner, John...

What is despised on any Forum, on any Internet Site, is the use of cheap, Mobile 'Phone Text Speak", when there is no good reason for using it... >:(...!

The use of "Correct" spoken English is encouraged, hence the Forum Rule: "The use of Text Speak is not allowed!"

Beware: Fozzer Has Spoken... >:(...!

LOL... ;D...!

Paul... 8-)...!

The Book of Rules:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1178200188

11. Please use proper English (though other languages are also permitted). I.E. Please avoid language like 'r' for 'are, 'u' for 'you', etc.. & please make an effort to punctuate. If you don't know what that means - find out!

I had a good chat there today...

...with myself!

What are you talking about? :-?

I suspect that what AN means, is that having rung up the Ells's "Chat Line", there was no-one there...

..so, rather than waste the call...

..He chatted with himself...

...it's what you do... ::)...!

Paul... ;D...!

Spit....are you related to "H" on the Forum?....He lives in "New Hampshire"...(U.S)....;)...!

Nope... proper Hampshire, south England!!!

hehe Ramos, nice one.

Like Fozzer Almighty has said, we're talking about text speak in these forums. If there's a reason for using text speak - like the one you suggested - then I don't have a problem with it. However, when there is no need, and people are just doing it 'cos they think it makes them look cool, then it can, and most likely will, get supremely irritating

laffing my azz off at Chavs in Bournemouth, nice one.

In terms of texting, my phone has predictive forward thinking text, it anticipates what the next word i want is, based on what i've used before. Very damn clever if you ask me.

Plus, I'm very filthy rich, so I don't care how many texts are sent  ;)
hehe just kidding, I get 750 texts a month free with my package, and I've never ever got anywhere close to sending that many, so I'm ok for propper English for now  ;) (or is that proppa)

I do find I use lol a lot in posts and on MSN, but mainly full words (sometimes with bad spelling)  ;)

And what the hell does leet (1337) mean ?
