Sorry I was so tired that I felt unable to read the manual and fully understand it. Rather than risk falling out of the chair and injuring myself, I elected to sleep on the floor, after all, it is quite difficult to fall off the floor and sustain an injury. I felt that in my weaken state it was the safest option.

That is ridiculous! Maybe they hadn't read the manual, and thus didn't want to sleep in one of the chairs for fear of the PC squad crucifying them. Or, like myself, they have trouble falling asleep in a recliner and opted for the floor where they would get some rest.

A FOUR page manual?  If you're too dumb to sit/recline in a reclining chair, and need training for it, you probably shouldn't be allowed near heavy equipment ....

The problem, obviously is that they had neglected to read the seventeen page safety manual on the proper use of the floor.  Right there, in article 6 paragraph B it says:  "If the floor is to be used as a rest surface it must first be covered with an approved safety pad.  Failure to cover the floor with the approved safety pad could result in muscle soreness and is grounds for dismissal".

I'd use the "My back was hurting so I slept on the floor to straighten it out" excuse at the hearing If they ask why say "I was carrying an 18 stone bloke over my shoulder down a ladder to save his life. Want a health and safety hearing and case for industrial injury?" [smiley=evil.gif]

Methinks you miss the point Felix ......... it is the implication that men who risk their lives on a daily basis entering burning buildings are too dumb to use ...... and therefore not allowed to use ..... a reclining chair without first  reading the manual. Then to be disciplined for using what is the safer option to sleep on ...... you get the point.

Ozzy makes a rather successful argument to the stupidity.
