I don't mind judicious speculation.

I have no doubt that there is some form of life elsewhere in the Universe. It stands to reason that in such a vast expanse the Human race is not unique. However, I suspect that even if alien creatures were in a position to observe us, they would have no interest in our pathetic little planet.

PS. That's my theory & I'm sticking to it. Prove me wrong if you can. :P

I think if there are extraterrestrial scientists scanning the night sky, they'd be quite interested in our world... there may be an abundance of "Earth-like" worlds in the universe, but one is lucky to find one, with the means available here on Earth, anyway.

If alien creatures do exist it's just as likely that we are far more advanced than them.

"Just as likely"... that supports my (probably unclear) point: that it's unknown, but possible, that there are "equivalent" life forms out there. It's a big universe, and the jury will be out for some time. ;D

I'm certainly not one of those "ET nuts" who's waiting for the superior aliens, who will of course be benign and wise, to come and solve all our problems for us. I think any beings of overall superior intelligence would observe from a distance, and stay away.... mostly because the "I want to believe" crowd would scare the hell out of them. ;D
I don't know what to make of many of the "encounter" stories I've heard, except that until I see a UFO or ET myself, I'm remaining skeptical, if open-minded.

My only slight interest in "Space" relates merely to the distance between various objects, and how long it would take to get there on a No 9 'Bus...;)...!

..as an example...

The "Planet" in question is 20 light years away...

That means that my No 9 Bus, traveling at the speed of light, you wish!...(186,000 MILES EVERY SECOND!), will take 20 years to arrive at the Bus Terminal on the said "Planet".

I just hope that my No 9 Bus is equipped with a good set of brakes to enable it to stop in time when it reaches its destination....
...not to mention the neck jarring experience during acceleration from the end of my road at the start of the journey.... :o...!

I would also hope that adequate Toilet facilities are provided, en route....
20 years is a long time to wait for a poo... :-[...!
...and the 'Bus Driver lives long enough to get me back home again...(40 years)... :o...!

"Space Travel?"....A load of Codswallop!.....>:(...!

Paul....I wonder if my Pensioner's free 'Bus Pass is acceptable... ::)...?

Note also, that a radio transmitted "Hello" will take 20 years to get there, and the reply "Hi" will take another 20 years to reach our loudspeaker again...40 years altogether.... :o...!

...I can't be arsed, waiting...life is too short for such excitement... :-?...!

Ya gotta laugh!....Tee-Hee...!

There's a conclusion of what why we Haven't receive any pattern in radio waves in SETI ,I mean why we haven't pick up anything yet? ,according to some logical the univese should be crowd of life and in many should be inteligence.

The conclusion could be the esterilizing of the life Due to colisions of black holes, the spining betwenn two of them creates powerful Gamma Rays, 8 years ago(I think in January) many satelites were damages by an unwknown phenomenon a strong gamma ray shower destroy many satelites in our orbite ,Today we know what happened , Fortuanly it wasn't local ,In fact was in another galaxy where two black holes colide and possibly kill anykind of a lifeform in it, that galaxy was 15 millon Light Years away

this phenomenon is not common and perhaps never happend in the last 5 billon years IN OUR GALAXY (when the earth was taking shape), Maybe were just lucky OR something bigger is protecting us.

there's also a supernova explosion(Betelgeusse is a candidate for this) wich create a massives neutrino shower having the same effect as the colision of 2 black hole wich could be,the surface of the earth would increase his temperature very suddenly to 220

Your point was clear enough. My point is that we shall never know the answer. I stopped worrying about these things many years ago when I realised there's nothing to be gained from something that can never be proven. The jury will be out for eternity. ;)

I am amazed that we have not heard  from another Planet yet...

I mean...all forms of life out there certainly are equipped with radio sets tuned to our frequency.
..not to mention their record players and CD players which they use to study the speech and photographs which we NASA sent off into deep space for their enlightenment, and enjoyment many years ago... :)...!

I wonder.....did we NASA remember to include a couple of spare radio tubes, and record player needles, not forgetting a blank R/W CD, with the consignment... :o...?

...Oh...and an instruction manual (Printed in English).... ::)...!

I bet they didn't...;)...!

LOL...!

Paul... ;)... ;D...!

P.S. I wonder what sort of batteries they use... ::)...?

The Fishchaser: we should tell the japaneese we found a planet full of giant tentacle monsters and their females are somehow little school girls

I find that going out into my back garden and waving at the sky, is as good a way as any to communicate with all the Folks "up there"... :)...!

Certainly more effective than fiddling with my CB Radio, and speaking in a Cockney lingo....... :-?...!

Paul... ;)...!

Not if we hear a message.... "Buy Crelm toothpaste! Best in all the Galaxy!"
Or make their acquaintance... "Excuse me, but where can we pick up some, uh, package goods around here?" ;D

There are an extraordinary number of possible events that would provide "proof" acceptable to the average human; just hasn't happened yet. But it could happen tomorrow, you never know.

I sure don't worry about it, though- nothing to do about it. whether they're  friendly or not, we won't be prepared, and it will be a fiasco... but it will be interesting, if and when it does happen. ;D
