
Things are going well, except for getting shooed out of a live-fire exercise area by the Navy. But getting off-course a bit is no big deal when you are not going anywhere in particular: Stowe is attempting to sail for 1000 consecutive days, without resupply or refueling, and out of sight of land. He and his mate will be wandering the oceans of the world for almost three years, if all goes according to plan.
Reid's sister lived here at the loft for a while, and I got to meet Reid and go on a day sail in his terrific boat in the Hudson a couple of years ago. He's a wonderfully crazy and visionary genius, a nice guy and a very good sailor... as well as being absolutely unwavering in his ambition to make this voyage. I think he'll make it.
They are uplinked to the Web via satellite and should be able to continue 'casting their log entries for quite some time... check out the site if you are curious. You can even e-mail them a greeting.
