Wow, I just realized that the grammar part of my brain called in sick yesterday...but forgive me, I had a rough run in with the old man upstairs...

And Jeff, whats wrong with the gallery shots you compared?  Both seem good to me...the real issue is when someone posts a shot like this and it is hailed as screenshot mastery and a true work of art while something like this is ignored.

Well, the first shot was just a pretty photoreal skin flying accross an overcast sky...and then cropped alittle. The second one has atomsphere, near perfect composition, and conveys an emotion and insight (which the first shot conviently ignored)...not to mention it is completely unique, first time I seen anything like on these forums.

...that second shot you have...it has potential, but the composition could've been much, much better... ::)

Taking screenshots (just like its real life counterpart, photography) is an art, and no one gets recognition for painting the Mona Lisa again.

And well, 3 years ago Anti Aliasing was just on its rise, not so strange people didnt care too much about it.

I betcha that if some of these people were around 3 years ago, they'd still have said it.

My first screenies were lost in a server clean-out. However the flying from that thread entered legend (some people can probably remember that idiotic thread about being bored on a Friday night)... I think it ran to about 12 pages or something stupid in the end. And thus was spawned the Ozzy-Bridge legend ;D T'was a pity the screenies were of such poor quality but hey that is life! I can't do screenies like Dave or Ramsa but I can fly like few others ;)

I was just going through the "Gallery Gates" thread...which is suppose to only have the best screenshots that've been posted...but I'm seeing shots like this being nominated while ones like this are completely ignored...
I just saw this, thanks Jeff

If he does come forward, let's show him what we are really about and prove him wrong.

Great initiative Dave.

The 'youtuber' and I had a good 'relationship' via e-mail. He always asked me what I thought of his shots before he would post them on the V. I offered to help him with his system and graphics last year and he progresively got better and better. He just has (had) a problem with non-constructive feedback and I agree with him.

If you don't like a shot please share your feedback why and how the shooter can improve. Don't tell him to get AA, a better time of day for lighting or some nice clouds in the background ... tell him how to do that and where to get those nice clouds ;)

I'm sure that if *** reads this post he'll reconsider ever posting in here.

Not meaning to get too involved with this, but I think that Nick has a very good point.  Unfortunately I saw hime get bad critique before and I felt it to be unjust, as well as the unfairness going on in the dreaded FSX forum which I avoid at all costs!
It seems quite sad to me to get wound up about a few comments who some may deem as "unsavoury", but it is quite harsh to be on the receiving end of some comments that could upset someone.  However I am with Nick by saying that making a video is going a tad too far.
My other view is this:  If someone tells you that your shot needs more AA, different angle etc, I go over to StudioV and look at all the tutes again to refresh my memory and I keep at it, making new shots.
However a lot of the time I don't post to get nice comments and praise, I post for fun.  I decide to post screenshots and other stuff elsewhere when I feel like it for fun, and do give something back to the Simviation community, which has provided me with a hell of a lot of information for the past year or two.
Good call with your post Nick, I agree with most of it and you make a lot of sense!  And I haven't really got the chance to say this until now, Welcome Back!

Cheers Everyone  [smiley=beer.gif]

I think the screenshots are being ignored or given short comments is because there are so many threads in there that it's impossible to want to look through all of them and make a long speech about it. Do you agree?  :)

Welcome back KingMark  [smiley=beer.gif]

Wahey!  Thanks mate, I'm making the most of my Friday night/Saturday morning by posting, no time this weekend due to bloody college commitments!
I saw this topic as something that I should post in, because maybe someone out there could be foolish enough to take my views on board!!!!!
Back on topic.....the video itself I didn't feel to be that bad, because there is some truth in it, apart from the "Clique" thing.
If there is a Clique, it's well over 22,000 members large..............it contains everybody who has something in common, a good interest in aviation.

Cheers,
Mark
