i saw it

yay i saw the A380 fly over my school today. it made a horrible rumbleing noise over the school but it was wort it. the plane had the airbus colors and all. it must be going home today.

Ive always wondered what a flying pregnant whale would look like, and airbus showed me ;D Must have been pretty neat to see one in person tho.

i dont dislike it, i just dont see the point in anything bigger than a 747. Especially in times where fuel is a real problem, and none of our airports terminals can handle it.

true big doesn't mean better. i think reliability is the true winner. i vote Boeing on reliability. ;D

The fuel economy per passenger-mile is actually quite good, and the whole point of bigger planes is to reduce the number of flights, which ultimately also improves energy economy. It may also relieve some congestion, but of course demand will continue to escalate, so there will always be "traffic jams" at some airports sometimes.
as for there being enough airports big enough, I'd imagine Airbus made sure there would be anough suitable fields to make it worth building.

I'm a fan of BIG, given that, I happen to like the A380.  If it's BIG and it flies, I probably will like it.

Cos a friend of mine is on work experience at Airbus, filton at the moment, and he got today's afternoon off for the A380 landing.
