The Rockies in the winter are just breath taking.

The Rockies at anytime are breath-taking.

Paul: Have you ever visited our lovely country in the real world? If you stick to California, you won't have to hear any Texas accents. ;)

Texas accents are OK, in fact, the beauty of taking road-trips through the US is going from reigon to reigon and expierencing the accents, from Boston accents, to New York accents, to southern accents, even Texan accents.

United Kingdom (rather than the US, there are other countries I'd prefer to live in to escape the mess the UK is in)! ;D ;D

And another benefit of road trips, is there's usually a Wal-Mart near the interstate.  When you need something, you can usually get it at a near-by Wal-Mart!   8-)

Now I know that you are observant enough to have seen my signature. I may avoid Wal-Mart here at home, but on a road trip anything goes. ;)

In going with the consensus here, the North-West would probably be the place for me, or the northern midwest.  My step-father is from Wyoming, and he has a farm in the Big-Horn Basin, just outside of Cody, and he has a house in the mounatins that's a forty-five minute drive from the North-East entrance of Yellowstone (he used to be a park ranger there), and we would always go out there over the summer for a couple of weeks, and sometimes in the winter, and the scenery just can't be beat.  I also really love where I live now, not Madison, but Wisconsin.  It has just enough hills for it to not be considered the flat-lands, and the hills are still low enough that you could fall asleep while flying your airplane, and not worry about hitting anything. ;)

I like Jacksonville,FL and the northeast US. They have what I like and need for me. Just go back and forth from one to the other for change of culture and scenery.  :)[quote]

My brother lives in San Diego, and it's beautiful there.

Thats pretty easy for me. The southwest is almost perfect, I live in southern Arizona and its a beautiful place. At least in my town you have almost every example of nature within an hours drive.  Like downtown areas? We have a pretty nice one, like neighborhoods from BEFORE mass housing came along? We have that, we even have those stupid housing developments if that happens to float your boat... Drive up to the mountains we even have a beautiful forest in this desert. There are many activities for outdoors men, from hiking through desert and seeing the amazing saguaro cactus, to mountain biking trails, and horseback trails. Its really an amazing place. The other day I was waiting for my mom to finish a doctors appointment and I decided to go for a quick drive, I followed one of the minor roads close to the mountains and with the foothills to my side and the mighty mountains in front of me, I didn't want to leave  ;)

There is one downside however

Summer....    BY far the wost time of season ever to exist, go outside and stand in the shade and you'll start sweating like you ran a marathon...  So to make it perfect get a summer home in the mountains, or in Alaska.  ;D ;)

Fozz, for someone with your brilliance, picking California as your first choice/idea?  :o

Personally I love the Northeast and Chicago, though I live in Florida.  Boston is lovely, and NYC is fantastic, though everyone who wants to live there wants to live in Manhattan, which is exorbitantly expensive...!

New Hampshire is very beautiful and nice, especially in the fall when the hills and mountains come alive in a vast array of colors (it's one of the only two places in the world to see foliage like this, the other being in China).

Chicago is home of the skyscraper, and home of many American institutions, like deep-dish pizza and almost all members of SNL over the years (via the Second City)...!  ;D

Florida, though being quite nice, is full of snowbirds during the winter months and older "clientele" (hence such lovely nicknames as "God's Waiting Room").  It's quite a melting pot, though i'm not a fan of the seedier elements that have appeared within the past few years... :-/

... Right now I live in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
That's where my foster mom was born; I interned in the ministry west-southwest of you, in Wymore and also worked for a company in Beatrice.

I used to live in Sun valley, Nevada, and Sahuarita Arizona. Right now i live in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

We moved to Nebraska, because most of our family was there

Now i wish we could live closer to the bigger towns, so we don't have to drive 40 miles to the nearest supermarket.

Ok, you live in Nebraska...So where the heck is Weeping Water, NE...And why do I feel it's the #1 consumer of Depends undergarments.  ;D ;D
