[smiley=smiley_up.gif] What do you mean it went down? To answer your question; I think it's debatable if you purchased (& still have) a genuine copy of the software but MS sees this as illegal. If you damage or lose a CD the correct procedure is to contact MS support. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243258/en-us

Probably not.  But you may be in violation of your user's agreement with MS.  So it still may be illegal...

I got a no-CD crack AND a valid and functioning and legal copy of FS9.  Am I legal?  Probably not.  Do I care?  No.  If Bill is that much of a pain in the arse that he can't accept one of his customers taking a more convenient route for copy protection then he can give me my money back.

I am not taking the high moral ground here, but I have never since my first CD drive in about 1990-ish had a OEM disk that was:

Stolen by a sister.
Eaten by the dog.
Scratched by a CD drive.
Eaten by a CD drive.
Scattered by a CD drive.
Generally given up the ghost.
Lost
Lost by a best mate who was just trying it out before he bought it himself.
Left disk 4 on a train, plane, taxi, ship or bus.
Mistakenly used it as a coaster.
Mistakenly used it in that CD mobile that I made to hang over the baby's cot.
Left it on a hot surface warping it.
Put it by mistake into the CD player of my car and then sold said car having in the meantime lost the name and address of the person I sold the car to.
Moved house and left it on the windowsill
Gone away for a short break, left the heating off, come home to find the house freezing, picked up disk 4, dropped disk 4 and due to the cold it shattered into a thousand pieces.
Had disk 4 used as a frisbee by a visiting niece, nephew or friends child.
Had a break in where the only thing stolen was my disk 4, the thief having to walk past my 40 plasma screen to get to it.

I must be the luckiest person alive. I do however have the No-CD patch for FS2004. Why, because I am lazy and can't be bothered with putting the CD in the drive each time I take to the skies.

It may not have happened to you, and hasn't happened to me. But it's not unheard of for a disc to shatter in a CD drive.

Just a reminder:

You guys know this site's position on piracy. I suggest that you be a tad bit more . . . discreet . . . in sharing with the world that you have done something that is on the edge of legality (or over).

This thread IS being watched . . .

. . . just a friendly reminder. ;)

well... for example, if i couldnt find a CD anywhere, asked in shops, looked online, couldnt find it anywhere, but somebody had it bittorrented, then it might be acceptable.
But in the end, its illegal. I have around six thousand songs on my computer, all of which are legally ripped from CD's me or my family have bought.

So if i decide to pirate that one CD that i cant find, and somebody looks into my hard disk, they're going to think im a hardcore professional pirate and come looking for me.

Me and my family have put thousands of pounds into the music industry, and in a moment of temptation i could be caught and face huge fines. its just not worth the risk to me.... besides, if i really need music, i can listen (as opposed to download) to music at www.radioblogclub.com. apparently its legal, going on the fact your not actually downloading it. but im guessing the lawyers will shut it down sometime...

They had mentioned us, we were just further down the list than we would have liked (or deserved for that matter). After a certain "incident" in the FSX forum we were removed.
