What I want to know is why people want Griese in chicago so badly. He sucks. Cant throw a ball past 20 yards and the closest he came to avoiding a tackle was falling over his dog. ;D

What I want to know is why people want Griese in chicago so badly. He sucks. Cant throw a ball past 20 yards and the closest he came to avoiding a tackle was falling over his dog. ;D

Just because Rex Grossman is play so poorly.  If this continues into the playoffs, they won't win their first game because they'll have to play a good team.  Right now Chicago isn't playing any good offenses so the Chicago D simply holds them to a few points and the Bears score a little more despite Rex.  Once they play a game where the opposing offense can score, they will be in trouble.  Grossman posted a passer rating of 1.3 last week (against the Vikings) and 23.6 the week before.  He has had some good games, especially earily in the season...but currently he is struggling.

What I think Chicago should do save their season is let Brian Griese play...right now.  See how he does.  Let Rex sit for a week and get his head back in the game and see what you have in Griese.  Their next 2 games are St. Louis and Tampa Bay...games which shouldn't be that hard.  Griese has shown he can play in the past and they won't know what they have until they try it...and right now there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.  Remember, it was only 2 years ago that Griese posted a QB rating of 97.5.  He can play.  I know you don't really like him Craig because he kind of played lousey those last couple seasons in Denver after Elway left (except for that great 2000 season he had when his rating was 102.9).  But, I would give him the shot.

I mean seriously, they could always go back to Grossman...or even Kyle Orton has proven he can play.  They are pretty deep at QB.

I heard an interesting idea today thought...after this season they should aquire Brett Favre.  I think Favre is simply holding back the rebuild in Green Bay and he would only be good on a team that is ready to win now.  Chicago is a winner now with a serious question at QB.  Favre could play there for a year or so and help groom Grossman and who knows, with him at the helm they very well could win Super Bowl XLII next season.  Think about that.

The only problem being, a trade between Green Bay and Chicago might be distasteful for everyone involved.   ;D

Hi Richie.
Griese is a very "me first player" He managed to alienate his entire offense in Denver. And that includes Rod Smith. He blamed on numerous occasions someone else for a bad game. I remember one game 850koa, the broncos radio team, were interviewing him, it was after Eddie mac suffered a really nasty concussion. Brian turned round and said it was eddie's fault for going up to catch the ball when all he was doing was trying to throw it away.(ed mac is loved to this day in denver so you can tell it didn't go down well) He never celebrated with team mates after scores. He got into fights in the locker rooms, turned up to practise on numerous occasions drunk. And in general stunk the place up. He's blamed to this day for TD's injury (not by me personally, but it was a blown play by him that caused the final knee injury in TD's career) Then there was the 6-10 season. Lets face it Denver is not a losing town, so that didn't go down well either. I'd say it has to be the toughest NFL team to be a QB on simply because of Elway, and he didn't handle it at all well. The one thing that Broncos fans as a whole liked about Jake, was the fact at the very least he was completely selfless as far as the team went. If something went wrong or if the game was a loss, he would instantly point to himself and say, "i didn't play well enough" not once was there a bad word towards a team mate. He made time aswell on his day off, to join the defense for their weekly dinner get together, he was the only offensive player to do that, and his team mates on that side of the ball loved him for it. And he'd always be there to congratulate a player on a TD, this guy was down the field faster than any other player on the offense to shake their hand or pat em on the ass. The sad fact again is Denver fans being very impatient seemed to want Cutler. Ok, too bad after one game there are already those calling for his head. Yes me, but I have never liked him >:( ;D
Brian Griese aint taking the Bears to the superbowl. Let them follow the 2000 Ravens idea of defense first. Then they can pick up a QB in the Draft, or hell take jake or Favre or Warner (perfect fit) or someone along those lines next year.

What do you think about Carolina's fans calling for Jake Delhomme to be benched? :o

Hey man, I don't disagree that Jake Plummer is a better QB than Brian Griese becaue he is and always has been.  Look at where the two were taken in the draft.  Plummer was a second round pick (and the second QB drafted in 1997) and Griese was a third round pick (and the 6th QB drafted in 1998)...that alone should say something.

My point was is Grossman is not playing well enough.  Right now he is doing enough to lose games against good teams.  The Bears have 29 turnovers this year, thats 2nd most in the NFL, 21 of them are Rex Grossman interceptions or fumbles.  Brian Griese is not a QB that will win a Super Bowl for you but he's also not a QB that will lose one for you.  Grossman is currently a QB that WILL lose a Super Bowl (or a playoff game) based on his play.  You mentioned the 2000 Ravens as a team that won with defense and thats true.  But, remember, their QB was Trent Dilfer who had an OK season.  I remember that was the season when the Ravens didn't score many offensive points for a while and yet they still won by defense...just like the Bears are now.  The difference is the Ravens offense didn't turn the ball over constantly.  Dilfer managed the game and simply didn't lose it for them.  I think the Bears need a QB like that right now and the best player on their roster for that purpose could be Brian Griese.  I'd let him play some this week if Grossman is playing poorly (which is what they are saying could happen) and at least see what they have in him.  I don't think he is a long term QB for the team, he's not his father, but he could be what they need to get through the rest of the season and get a better QB.

The Bears don't need a QB to win games for them, just one that won't lose games for them.  Right now, for this season only, do you think that is Grossman or Griese?

What do you think about Carolina's fans calling for Jake Delhomme to be benched? :o

I don't think its going to happen.  Its just like those fans of the NY Giants who want Manning benched.  All players have slumps and they just need to work thier way out of it.  Delhomme is a proven winner and he'll figure it out.  What Carolina needs to do is get their run game working because they are a team that runs first and then passes.  If they can't run (which they haven't been) then they are in trouble.

Plus, who would replace Delhomme...Weinke?  Yeah he is a proven winner (something like 1-15 as an NFL starter-he was the starter during that 1-15 2001 season).  Plus, this weekend will show it too.  It is very likely that Weinke will get the start because Delhomme is hurt.  They are saying that Delhomme is questionable but every report I have read makes it seem like he won't play.  So, all those who are calling for Delhomme to be benched just might get a glimpse of that world tomorrow.

Thing is Griese will lose games. He did it in Denver, Tampa and Miami. he'd fool you into thinking he could do something special, them bam there it was. That game costing interception at the end. Or a fumble just at the most inconvienient time.
I cant argue, he'd probably do a better job of it than rex is at the moment. But i'm not sure the differance would be that noticeable. I certainly wont argue Jake has the same bad habits, but at least the guy has the good attitude to go with the team. And the ability to win a game from behind. I feel Griese's dad pushed him way to hard to be an NFL QB. Or perhaps the presure of it got to him, I dont know. But then again the same could be said for Eli and Peyton. or Chris Simms.
The one I feel sorry for most right now is little Jack Elway. He's only just started his high school career in Colorado and he's already got news reporters after him and trying to build him up to be the guy to carry the Elway legacy in denver. Poor kid.

I really think Jake Delhomme is getting the worst end of the stick in Carolina, he was and is a great player and fit for the team. i think though, he's probably the quietest name of all the sucessful QB's. You really dont hear much talk about Carolina at all, let alone the QB's. So when something happens to make the news all the stories come out of the woodwork.

I think he's getting the short end of the stick too, but that comes with being the QB.  When the team struggles they want to see you benched...or worse.  When the team is successiful they're the hero.  Thats the way football is, and for the first time in his career as a starter, Delhomme is struggling and is carrying the brunt of the negative feedback.  He'll be fine.

I really think Carolina is in trouble this season.  If they lose to NY tomorrow, which they just might without Jake or Chris Gamble, their season could be over.  Its the run game that has really killed them and I jusst don't understand what the problem is.  But, they'll be back, I'm confident of that.  Plus, last seaon they went to the NFC title game as a wild card team...so if they get rolling here who knows.

Its a simmilar situation to Denver. For some inexplicable reason the running games gone down the toilet, and the season has too. All in the space of a few weeks.  :o
Carolina have the benifit of the NFC though, so they will be able to fight to the last game. Denver on the other hand are now playing playoff football, 1 loss and their basically done for.dang afc LOL.

Thats true man, I think they are basically fighting for 1 remaining wild card spot.  I think that the NY Jets have locked up one of those spots and the other teams will be fighting for the others.  Plus, Denver has a hard road because they have to play SD...and if you ask me they are the current Super Bowl favorites (SD's only problem is that Mary Shottenheimer who hasn't won a post season game since Joe Montana was his QB).
