Linked site content. *WARNING*

Postby eno » Sun Nov 26, 2006 9:31 am

Over the last couple of months the number of links to sites such as Youtube etc has increased dramatically.

Whilst this in itself is not a problem it has been noted that some of the content linked to and some of the content on the sites linked to is not suitable for these forums.

Please remember that this is, not only, a family orientated site it is also an international site. The majority of members may be male, over 18 and from western cultures where nudity, or even semi nudity,  is not seen as a big issue, there is also a significant minority of users who are, for one reason or another, not comfortable with the material that is sometimes posted.

This is a forum for Flightsim enthusiasts ..... if you want to see naked females and other unsuitable material go and use the appropriate sites ..
Don't post links to them here.

This is a gentle warning ....... if links to unsuitable content continue then the privilage may be withdrawn all together.

Cheers

I agree fully to this. i also must say that the signatures are getting to that point as well. make the playing field even for all content here.

Having spent a little time checking out a few treads for sigs and not really finding anything apart from aircraft, I can only come to the conclusion that you think I am showing a little too much leg??

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I think the links are just a way for some to up their post count.
Personally I hate going to what I think may be a interesting topic just to find a link. So actually becomes a waste of time.
It has become a trend now just to link to everyplace and no longer add any reasonable content.

I being on dial up won't even click a link to a video, yes some  do but SimV isn't a link site as mentioned it is a flight sim related site.

Want to share useless links send them in a email or maybe Pete can create a "Links" category. ;)

I have to disagree with you there PI. The majority here do have broadband and most of us don't mind clicking links. I prefer to read articles actually in link than in a copy and paste job.

Articles are fine since they most time contain items of substance I am referring to the overwhelming amount of Youtube links (which is also the main reference listed in the topic) and the like.

Which is why maybe they should put up a Video Links category, that way people like me that don't want to waste time going to what sounds like it may be a interesting topic just to find a link to a video don't have to weed through the forums to find actual topics of discussion.

And I would disagree about the broadband, maybe here at SimV a majority are on broadband but in the world overall dial up still out ranks all other forms of connection to the Internet.
