Ay, I was looking at that earlier. There was the battle of jutland there as well as several vessels getting sunk anyway. Not surprising really if eventually they find the right one that belonged to the commander.

Why should it be surprising? Weren't small submarines being used during the American Civil War, and even as early as the Revolutionary War? I'm talking very small, big enough for one to only a few people...
Yes. But I believe I'm right in saying that the American Civil War sub dissapeared without trace. I don't think there were any in the revolutionary war. Though there was an attempt that involved a barrel with a cork in it and two hand driven propellers. Can't remember whether that was revolutionary or civil war though.
