Man I'm impressed!

Postby Romulus111VADT » Tue Nov 21, 2006 1:30 pm

I called Dell Technical Service yesterday at approx. 10:30 am EST and reported a dead CD-RW drive on my now 2 year old system. I received the new drive at 11 am EST today. Had it installed by 11:15 am EST. Called DHL for pickup of the old drive. They were back here by 12:10 pm EST to pickup the return..... :o

So it took a little over 25 hours to get the new drive and install it and return it....I AM IMPRESSED!!!! ;D

The really cool part was that I actually got to talk to someone that spoke english...lmao. The tech was in Canada and I told him, "Well, at least your on the same continent"....lmao

;D

My cousin owns a small computer business and uses DELL exclusively.  He has many positive things to say about their customer service.

I always buy Dell. I use 2 pc's concurrently - both Dell - often running 5 or 8 programs at once on each.

About 4 years ago I had to call support. I got a new HD replaced without question & done quickly. That's it. Every day these machines serve me like angels.

I have to say that I know other people with problems with their Dells but the root cause is the way they use their machines - letting teenagers loose on them is a sure disaster.

My personal golden rules for trouble free computing:

1. Turn PC off every night - or if downloading movies overnight - reboot in the morning.
2. Run anti-virus that updates daily & doesn't have any problems being told to leave . I use AVG
3. Same with Firewall. I use Zonealarm.(Disable the windows firewall)
4. Never visit crack or porn sites.
5. Use non- MS software where-ever possible. I like clean & efficiently designed, secure software. There's plenty around & lots for free. I happily pay for good professional software like Adobe, Grisoft, Forte, etc
6. Use a good cleaner that will eraze garbage from the registry & run it about weekly. I use CCleaner. Free & simple.

Having said all this my PC will probably crash tonight & the  HD burn to a cinder

I also use Zone Alarm and Symantec Norton Systems Works 2006 Professional. Plus several other security measures.

I know that when the Dell Tech tried to access my system to do the diagnostics himself. He said that my system was extremely secure and he couldn't connect to it. In fact, he couldn't see it as it stays in "Stealth Mode".

So I guess my system is up to snuff.... ;D
