Tamiya made great ground vehicles! Their Spits always had a few faults however
I'm still after an Airfix 1:24 Spitfire I if anyone knows of one....

To be honest, I buy mostly 1:24 & 1:12 racing kits in the Tamiya line, have never built any of their military models.
As for the 1:24 Spitfire, I see them all the time on eBay. I believe the MPC kit is the same kit licensed through Airfix. I had one in the early 1980's. The parts really didn't match up all that well and it lacked detail for such a large kit.
Lately I've just been restoring some of my older kits, but last night I picked up a nice Revell 1:72 scale CH-54 Sky Crane, 1970's vintage.

[EDIT] Forgot to mention in my earlier post that Protar, Glenco, and Lindberg also have some nice kits

I started out with Airfix way back in 1975 when I was a kid Had to bribe my relatives going to UK to bring me some as they were not avalible Here (India).They are great Kits even now.

I don't know Mark, I think the Tamiya Spit is a very nice kit. It is by far the easiest 1/48 scale Spitfire kit to build and the only one out there that does not need a ton of filler in the wing root joint.

On a PR.IG there are no blisters on the upper wing surface, however there should be a fuel tank filler point for the under-wing blister tanks that most of these variants carried.
I've just discovered that R7059 also carried 8 machine-guns as she was a low-level PR variant. Life is full of surprises
Also looking at some IG variants your fuselage roundels are way astern of where they should be, the oblique camera should be within the roundel

PRIG had a 29-gallon tank behind the pilots seat and retained the standard MkI wing with full armament and armoured windscreen. It did have the blistered sliding hood of the other early PR versions though and a MkV oil cooler. It was designed for the

Hmm so I can't have a dig about the armament service panels.... err correct me if I'm wrong but PRs didn't have radios (weight) so err why has your model got an aerial?

My reference photo (bottom of page 236 Spitfire, the history) clearly shows R7143 after conversion with an aerial mast fitted. I have another picture also with the mast.

I've been looking over all my Dr. A. Price books and there are no PRs with aerials. Methinks the aerial was probably removed before going operational...
