Yea, I know. Since the 80's. They were actually produced somewhere in Europe I think. But The greenies are pushing them with people like Leonardo DiCapprio and other celebs pleading the "save the planet" case.

My own opinion is that very, very few are addressing and identifying the REAL issue that has any hope at all of dealing with this whole problem:

That is population control.

This little ball of rock and gas simply cannot support the number of people that are on it already.

The simple fact is that the earths population would not continue to grow if the earth couldn't support it.

Absolutely correct in an abstractly sterile expression of that fact.  It is the way that the poopulation will eventually stop growing that is the important part.

So what will happen is that we will cross the "critical mass" at a certain point.  Then there will be a bit of a "lag" as the enviromnelt catches up to the overuse before the consequences start to happen.  Those consequences are things such as massive world wide disease epidemics, huge and extensive droughts,  starvation,  local climate shifts, and so on.

Lots and alots of people dying is how the population will be "controlled" in that scenario.  In fact that sort of approach fits the "Gia concept"....that the Earth is more like a living organism than we think and will take care of itself.  If true, bet it uses a BIG flyswatter to take care of the infestation of humans.

There are some scientists that seem to think we have already crossed the cirticval mass point.

There's gotta be some sort of formula for population saturation.

X acres of agricultural land.. Y acres of "green" land.. Z acres occupiable land.. and Q acres of infrastructure and support land..

God help the scientist who tries to calculate it all. (and help him even more if he believes he's done it)..

I still think the human population is less than insignificant. I think that we're so far from reaching saturation that it's hardly worth the thought. Bet the experts back in 1967 were saying that if the world population doubles in 40 years the world will be un-liveable

There's a difference between having children and children surviving. If the land can't support that number of people then the children die before they reach adulthood.
