Did you know that .9999(repeating) actually equals one?  Really, it does.

1/3=.333(repeating
2/3=.666(repeating)
.333(repeating)+.666(repeating)=.999(repeating)
.333(repeating)+.666(repeating)=1/3 + 2/3
1/3+2/3=1

Therefore, 1=.999(repeating)

Just wrote a huge post but deleted it lol, makes my head hurt. Not gonna think about his anymore ;D

NO! Step functions disprove it.  If you take a step function that steps at every whole number you can show that this is not true becuase X.999(rep) would be rounded down to X, not rounded up to X+1, so X.999(rep) =/= X+1.  However, X.999(rep) is the number that is as close to X+1 as you can ever get on the lower side, which makes it extremely unique.  But, this doesn't mean that X.999(rep) is X+1, because if this idea was continued down to X.999(rep)-0.000(rep)1, you will get X.999(rep)8, which is the number that is as close to X.999(rep) as you could ever get on the lower side.  You could then theoretically continue this idea all the way down to X.000(rep), which would mean X = X+1, which would falsify all of mathmatics.

Stupid math.

Have a nice day. ;D ;)

Sad person. ;D

;D My incredibly stubborn friend and I were having this argument a couple of months ago after it was mentioned in one of our math classes, so I spent the next couple of classes trying to figure out a way to prove him wrong, and I think I did.  It's not too bad for someone who hates math and has got C's in every math class I've had to take in college (except for one miraculous B I somehow managed to pull off ;D).  I've had to take enough math classes to make my head do exactly what is happening in TacitBlue's picture, and finally I am on my last math class of my college career, and I can't wait for it to be done.  I still hate math, and am quite certain one of the requirements for being on the math faculty at my school is to be a pompous ass with a holier-than-thou attitude. :-X Oh well, math is still stupid.  ;D ;)

Also, you know how they tell you not to eat yellow snow?  Well, don't eat pink snow either, it will make you hallucinate and die. :P ;D

More people are killed by donkeys annually than are killed in plane crashes.

This one actually works ;D

Well see the whole proof that I showed my Calculus teacher showed us after teaching us how to differentiate so....

How about this, right inside the cap of the Snapple I'm drinking right now:

I wonder how much of them wind up in water hazards and the woods?

Capital One refuses to report its customers' credit limits to the three major credit bureaus. Instead, the bureaus use the highest balance a customer has charged as a proxy for the limit.

If you remove the wings of a fly, does it become a "walk".

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
