First time this nonsense started (late 1970s)...  "Scientists" predicted that by 2010, New York City would need to be building flood walls to keep the rising ocean from swallowing Manhattan   ::)..

Same 30-50 year window (imagine that   :P   )..

And prior to that, "scientists" were warning that man was inducing an artificial ice-age..

This stuff is tiring...

Let it heat up. I hate the cold.
Also your pic is too big for the forum guidelines.
Finally, global warming is not as bad as its being made out, if it were, and governments really did care, they would simply ban cars or turn off power at certain times or the place. Like most they know it to be a farce and only fain an interest in it to get the tree huggers on their side. ::)
And your images are linked aswell. I'd worry more about the rules of the forum before trying to tackle global climate change.

Maybe in some parts of the world, but it's already quite toasty here ;D

Good. I'll stay in northern climes for global warming and when the iceage comes I shall move south. Won't bother me at all. :)

Oooh. And renewable energy. I've seen a windfarm when it was consuming energy and giving none at all out. ;D

I looking forward to a snowball earth, I love skiing! ;)

But here's the major problem -

Animal Farts!

Cow and Sheep Farting
http://www.show.me.uk/site/news/STO873.html

Every year, the average dairy cow produces 19.3 pounds of gases, called volatile organic compounds, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District said. Those gases react with other pollutants to form ground-level ozone, or smog.

With 2.5 million dairy cows -- roughly one of every five in the country -- emissions of almost 20 pounds per cow mean that cattle in the San Joaquin Valley produce more organic compounds than are generated by either cars or trucks or pesticides, the air district said. The finding will serve as the basis for strict air-quality regulations on the region's booming dairy industry.

I think we've found the real problem here.  EAT MORE HAMBURGERS! ;)

Oh no, not this again.  Here.

FACT:
The global temperature IS rising at a rather alarming rate, and so are CO2 levels in the atmosphere.  This is absolute, undisputable scientific fact.  If you believe there is any dissent in the scientific community about this, you are sorely mistaken.

UNKNOWN:
To what extent humans are causing this.  Many believe humans are contributing considerably, some believe this is a natural life cycle of the earth.  It is unknown how much more the temp will rise, or to exactly what extent humans are causing the temperature rise.  I would suggest http://www.epa.gov-click on "climate change," it's an excellent, unbiased and well-informed review of the current situation.

There.

Finally, global warming is not as bad as its being made out, if it were, and governments really did care, they would simply ban cars or turn off power at certain times or the place. Like most they know it to be a farce and only fain an interest in it to get the tree huggers on their side. ::)

Completely untrue (the proof you gave, not your assertion that global warming isnt as bad as some say it is, which may be true)-the human race is the biggest procrastinator EVER, we will wait until it's too late to do anything.

Also, saying "let it warm up" is, of course, folly.  A global temperature raise of only a few degrees will throw ecosystems into chaos and possibly severely alter climate patterns, which will alter EVERYTHING.  The question isn't will it raise, it's how much it will.

Good reply Beef, it's happening and at a faster rate than previously has occurred. As you say, the question is whether we are influencing it and where it will lead......

For me the question is, why wouldn't we want to try to do something about it.....just in case?

Because we'd all rather sit here a talk about it instead, and let someone else take care of it.

Hey....don't get me wrong, I'm not volunteering. I just wonder why people are so eager to deny it or say 'bring it on'.

It strikes me that we should accept the possibility, and also the attempts of people who are prepared to get involved in our stead. Either that or expend a bit of effort ourselves to find out and come up with an educated opinion .
