This sort of thing goes on all the time. Lot of fuss over nothing. IMHO ::)

You probably did - as Doug said they are making a fuss. I saw something similar myself somewhere on an aircraft carrier.

Mind you I think that is more common out at sea - while this was inland in what is really a warzone.

Which is why they're allowed to do things like that. The armed forces are allowed to do things in war time that no one would dream of letting them do in peace time (and that doesn't include the killing bit).

This one was a tad too close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSKoxzDr2FU

:(  just had to post that, I guess that's what caused the FAA to ground low passes. :'(

What he heck are you talking about? ??? It's nothing to do with the FAA. It was a stunt for British TV.

Yes. and the FAA didn't "ground low passes"... you're still allowed to do them over a runway (using common sense of course, and permission where necessary), or 500 feet from any person, structure, or vehicle.
In other words, if you are out in the middle of nowhere and want to mow the grass with the airplane, you are legal to do so if you meet the requirements above.

Okay, what the hell happened in the video with the guy taking a wing to the face?! :o ??? It looks like the pilot actually aimed at him by lowering the wing! :o

Moral of story: Do NOT piss a pilot off, and stand next to the runway!! ;D

Why oh why did I post that link? ::)

No pilot in his right mind would do that deliberately so I imagine it was a complete accident. This was a light aircraft & it's quite possible the wind caught it just at the wrong moment. I have no idea what the reporter was doing there anyway. He was not killed or even that badly injured or I would not have posted it.

PS. Having watched the video again the wing hit him on the back of the head, not in the face.

Of course, but it could've been for a movie or something. :)

Yes. If you read the comments you'll see that it was a flour bomb. I suppose they were trying to get him with that and accidentally went one better.

Still though, how many other people can lay claim to being knocked down by an aeroplane. ;D
