So who remembers TCP, well up until tonight I had forgotten all about it. I had no idea it was still possible to buy it. It must be 20 plus years since I last saw it.
So I am at work, just about to change a main wheel on a 737 when this "smell" comes across the apron. At first I thought that a farmer was spraying the fields with a fertilizer, but a check of my watch showed that it was 01:00 in a dark and rather chilly morning. Further investigation showed that all the baggage trucks had been stopped and a small crowd of handlers where milling about and not doing much. Next the fire service goes by, blue lights and lots of diesel smoke. Well there was no smoke or fire, just this smell. As I was still alive and breathing and my eyes did not burn and none of the baggage handlers had collapsed to the floor clutch their throats, I carried on with my wheel change. Just about to pull the wheel of the axel when one of the fire crew comes running over.
"You the Englander"
"Yes"
The next question sort of took me back.
"You can read a little English, yes"?
