What with the Ramadan thread too? Weird. Please excuse me.

Do Muslims and Jews really follow a different calander to everyone else?

If memory serves, there was a priestly and a civil; can't speak for muslims. Nevertheless, one must not only account for the different seasonal start but also the millenial diffference since neither the Jewish nor Muslim counts reference to Christ.

I dont really know what the relation between the muslim and the jewish calendar is beside the fact that they are both lunar (follow the cycles of the moon, not the orbit of the sun and rotation of the earth).   It sure makes things interesting tho, on leap years instead of adding a day a whole month is added! Seems creation was set to equate to the 'western' world's 3771 B.C.: it's 5767 ;)
