I don't know my U.K geography, but AeroExpo is going on in Wycombe, just guessing, probably way wrong.

I can't find any relevent airshows in the area, and yup Wycombe is the opposite end of England to Newcastle.
What colour was she?
There were several BBMF appearances around Yorkshire yesterday however...

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

One Spitfire at Durham Tees Valley Airport, and Spit, Hurri and Dak were due at RAF Leuchars too, so I imagine you saw the Spit on the way to join them.

I've seen 2 Spits "in the wild" too some time ago! It's a very nice surprise, isn't it?  ;)

There's a list here. http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/spitaw.htm
I don't know how up-to-date it is. I counted almost 60.

Generally its about 50 at any one time, with about 60 capable of flight but stuck on the ground for various reasons.

There are about 20 or so airworthy in the UK, 5 with the BBMF...
