What is it with people? No sense of honor, that's what.
The one time I dinged a parked car I had no idea whose it was, so I left a note. The owner and I sorted it out without the police.

What is it with people? No sense of honor, that's what.

In this country there is a frightening trend of hit-and-run accidents where the driver has not stopped after injuring or killing another road user. I suspect there are various reasons behind this, ranging from driving illegally to being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Far too many people no longer seem to take responsibilty for their own actions. In our brave new world it's always someone else's fault. Anyone brought up with this frame of mind would hardly bother about reporting a minor scrape.

Because of the fear of being sued people are very wary of getting involved in anything, leading to this terrible situation. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/5051146.stm

People can be so horrible. My mom was once driving on a dirt road and some guy literally ran her off the road by driving right at her. The only way to avoid a collision was to go off the road into some bushes and into a big rock. Did he stop? Only for a few moments to yell and cuss her out >:(

It's the same over here in the states, but worse. Heck, one person can slip on a sidewalk and successfully sue the city for millions. And as for the drive bys, I see some of those here in Florida. 8 out of 10 times the suspects who leave the scene is most likely "not" drunk but are just simply too scared of the lawsuits. :-/

I would have exactly what the police do. Hook up several cameras on various angles of the car so that the culprit could broadcasted all across the internet. ;D

I would suggest to all that if you find yourself in this situation that you take a few quick photo's of the damage to the other car before you leave the scene.  A friend of mine backed into a parked car and shattered a front light, she took a few snaps of the car and left her details.  To cut a long story short the owner of the car tried to claim for a great deal more damage than she caused and she was able to prove from the shots that she took that it must have occured at a later time.

Sorry to hear about this Craig.

Will, I have taken pictures of my mums car, I did that as soon as we noticed it had been hit.
Sadly I cant get pics of the other as it hasn't returned yet.
