I hate people on phones, one lady tryed to turn while on the phone but it turned yellow so she stopped, tryed to go, but saw me wanting to cross and she finally stopped. As i walked by i gave her a signal to hang up the phone, she tryed to unroll her window i presume to yell at me, but by then i was gone  ;D People ::)

Other countries [like Cuba] are so poor that even a bottle of milk is a luxury item while cars are mainly owned by the rich.

To be fair Cuba has an Healthcare service and an educational system that makes the rest of the world look stone age and is only that poor because America still seems scared of it.

I think somehow that Billy G will be looking at some parts of Africa. Where drinking water is a luxury item. :P

[quote] Mr. Gates only said he wouldn't be involved in day-to-day operations in 2008. I'll speculate he'll stay on as an advisor and such.

I think you're a little confused.

IT was my understanding that whn IBM tried to license CPM from Digital (IBM's competitor) and Digital refused, Gates sold IBM to license his product "DOS" for IBM"s new "Personal Computer".

Just a note on Latin grammar,

Quod Erat Demonstratum

That which has been proven

Note, erat is the imperfect form of "Esse" meaning "he/she/it WAS" thus a past continous action.

A.

P.S Irrelevancies aside, at least BGIII is doing something useful with his cash, as opposed to building a car collection etc...that may sound a bit left wing, but its good to see him doing something for the world.

But... if it's imperfect, it must be wrong... and how can it be past if it continues? ??? ;D ;D
Don't you like the seaming contradiction of grammatical terms?  :P

With his money there's no reason why he can't have a car collection too.* Otherwise there's no point.

*Probably has a car collection or something like it.

At least we now know that much of the money we spend on Windows and FS is being used to help the poor around the world.

I'm sure when you compare Microsofts profits and Bill Gates personal stash, you'll realise that a tiny proportion of our FS money is going to the 3rd world. :P

Still, I'm not stopping him. :)

No matter what you think about the man's bussiness strategy, you can't argue his about his morals. He has given (litterally) billions to charity, and has contributed more foreign aid than many EU countries.

That man's contribution can make the EU, UN, and USA look like nothing more lemonade stands in comparison. ;D

This may sound like I'm knocking the guy but really I'm not:  Gates only started to give to charity in a big way when he started getting sued for anti-trust violations.  Once his giving started numbering in the Billions the public became more pro-Gates to the point that the anti-trust allegations virtually evaporated.  It's funny what politicians will do to court votes: leverage the public's jealousy of an innocent man, then cower in fear when that man is able to sway the public to his side.

I don't have proof that the two are related but the timing is more than a little suspect.  Really, in a matter of months the US and EU united against Gates and his anti-competitive practices (anyone remember the whole Netscape accusations?)  They filed suit.  Then Gates started giving away money like it was water and before you know it the lawsuits just disolves like so much antacid.

I think it's unfortunate that the government and public extort charity money from a man just because he's enormously wealthy.  Although I'm sure there are many who feel he owes it to society for the sin of bringing them Windows operating systems.
