I'm inclined to agree, although the Vulcan project has opened a few doors. I can see a few problems though.

All the aircraft are stored outside, except the one in Barbados. None of them (AFAIK) in the UK ever have their systems run (some Air France/Airbus employees keep some systems live on two examples in France). The other problem would be how the aircraft would be used. Would they want it to be able to carry passengers, or would they just conduct displays with a skeleton crew, as the Vulcan will (in RAF service the Vulcan used a 5 man display crew, but under a G reg and CAA regs it will carry 3). Finally, one paper today quoted a price of

Reading the interviews in the latest (July) FlyPast with Sqn Ldr David Thomas and Dr Robert Pleming its not as bad as last month press (releases) made out... They still seem pretty confident.

Methinks it won't happen, as well. We've got a Blackburn Buccaneer destined to fly in the UK now, but that's the first aircraft put on the civil register in the 'Complex' category. A Buccaneer for crying out loud!

I can't see a Concorde being flown any time, here. For one, the costs would just be too much. Also, I doubt anyone like British Airways would want to operate one just for display's sake. It's even more unlikely that it would be flown/operated by a civilian (other than an ex-Concorde pilot). It just wouldn't be allowed by the CAA.

Look, here's the deal - none of us think that Concorde will ever fly again, it's too complicated, too expensive & all of them have been left sitting around doing nothing for far too long.

But if a bunch of people want to get together & use they're time & money to try & make it happen then so be it - all we have to do is take 10 seconds of our time to sign a petition to try & help them.

Regardless of whether you believe it possible or not - just sign the damn thing - after all, all of us would like to see Concorde fly again, wouldn't we?

To keep Concorde running the costs are too much.  The cost is the same as running the Concorde on its normal routes for free.  Servicing costs and fuel are far too much.

Mike Bannister - Chief Concorde Pilot is my source for the info.  It was last time he was at the University i go to.

The ones that were cut for moving will not, they are too weak to fly again.

Taxiing condition might be achievable, but flying i'm not so sure.

I would love to see her flying again.  I help restore the Brooklands Concorde (G-BBDG (202)) The "giant airfix kit" is how we describe her.  She was in a lot of bits, from large to small.  She is looking really good now.  She has the 1970's livery; sanded down and repainted by all the volunteers at Brooklands.
