Holy Cow,....did someone say " Sir Stanley Mathews "?

Now that shakes a few cobwebs loose in the old heed....I hate to admit it, but I actually heard that name back when he was playing....... :-X

...I saw him play a few times...what a priveledge........He was never sent off or even booked in 30 years career and played for England at the age of 42...........the "Mathews" final was in 1953 and I repeat.."get the video"...........commoner ;)

Gary Lineker was in that same club too*. They don't make 'em like they used to. Took that Rooney chap's only 18 and already had more than a handful of red cards...

*It's just occured to me - he never used to tackle! ;D

...mmm...yes I liked Lineker....still do....even after those daft crisps adverts, he's made a good sports presenter IMO......there is one thing though...in those days you would have to probably commit murder to get sent off.......none of this "two swear words and you're off" malarky...........bookings and sending offs (or is that sendings off?) are used far too much these days...spoils the game. I'd like to see the "sin bin" applied to football...say 15 minutes for each offence............commoner ;D
