Well, here at Simviation, people of similar interests can discuss and share opinions, pictures, videos and links of their favourite hobby, all in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Great place really, and as Scorpion said it helps to enjoy  aviation with people who also enjoy it, rather than my friends.

My friends used to look up confusedly when in Study Hall period I jumped up, rushed outside and yelled "It's a 182RG!"...  ;D
Now they've gotten used to it, in fact, I'm going gliding for two weeks this summer with one of those friends of mine!  :o ;D

I think it dates way back to the days before the internet. Yes, there was life back then.  ;D

In those days we would purchase a computer. Nothing installed on it except Basic but we'd pay 100's of $$ for just that. Then someone else would purchase a BB program and hand his telephone number out to all his friends with computers. We'd spend hours dialing his number with a $100 modem and logging on to his BB to write things like, "hey watcha doing?" To which he would reply, "Not much. Getting ready to go down and pick up my hard drive. It has a whole meg of storage so you guys can leave messages to each other all you want. You'll never use up that thing."

It kind of got out of hand from there.  ;D ;D
