Death of the Internet

There seems to be some confusion here.

Yes, it is indeed probable the internet as we know it will eventually fold under its own weight from the sheer amount of absolutely worthless and harmful s**t on it.  Only top industry experts can truly understand how incredibly complex the "internet" is-it is one of the hardest concepts to fully understand.  It would not be wrong to compare the internet to the "web of life."

The article does not say that that's it, kapoof, no more world wide web.  No more connecting millions globally.  The article instead says the internet will simply be different-many smaller, more secure, more specialized networks.  The internet will simply change, not disappear forever.

If I've misunderstood the article, I'd appreciate it if someone could clarify.

To be honest, I'm slightly more worried about the death of the world as we know it than I am about the internet. ::)

That's exactly what concerns me.  I do not place it above the US to silently block information it dissapproves of for some sham of a reason.  "Dangerous Information", "Public Betterment".  And even if we (the US) had a 100% open network, we still couldn't gain access to closed networks.  Although one has to ask, are we already there?  I imagine if we were it would be kept pretty low.

And if the world ended, I wouldn't be here to miss anything, so I don't really care about that half as much as I care about the internet. ::) ;D
