Pierre Clostermann

Sad to here that the WWII Free French RAF ace, author and polititian Pierre Closterman passed away today...

An ace with 23 confirmed aerial kills (and many more ground kills, he was known post war for his book "The Big Show"*, he appears to have been an interesting character. I'd never realised he'd "betrayed" the RAF with his praise of the Argentines during the Falklands conflict of 1982...

You have to remember that France (and French military businesses) were "in bed" with Argentina in the early 80's.
Afterall Exocet and Mirage IIIs aren't made in Birmingham ;)

No. But one of the Type 42 Frigates of the Armada Republica Argentina that the Mirage's practiced on was made in Cumbria. ;D
