Got a PPL a long time ago. Eventually couldn't afford even renting and didn't have time to keep up with it even if I could. Nasty conundrum there. If you work 12 hrs a day you have plenty of money but no time to use it. If you don't you have plenty of time but no money. Never could find the balance that would let me do both.

On the other hand however if I won the Lottery an airplane would be right near the top of the "buy soon" list along with some instruction time to update my flying skills and get recertified.

Lol! Not yet Paul. Just come down for a break from revising for my accountancy exams though. Doing all about standard costing right now - that's all do with budgetary control basically.

Unfortunately not even a CA would generally be able to afford a CPL, so after paying off my loans (thanks Blair >:( ) and trying to get hold of a hovel to live in on the housing market (thanks Brown >:( ) I may have a few pence left over for a PPL - that if I don't get an unreasonable girl before. ::)

But talking of bank accounts - we all know that single men have loads of money Paul. ;) Come on - we all know people without broadband have stacks in the bank vaults! Lol!  ;)

Tee-Hee....;)...!

Your old mate Fozz has got his head screwed on... ;D...!

Having Dial-Up saves me loads of money....
...and Sim Flying around the World every day instead of going on foreign holidays....also saves me loads of money...
...and cooking proper meals every day instead of ready meals saves me loads of money..
...etc...etc...

...and all this money I have saved enables me to book

I see poor, destitute, GA pilots every day with the arse out of their trousers and holes in the soles of their shoes, driving clapped-out cars, trying to find the funds necessary to fly...;D...!
LOL...!

And don't forget to mention skinny. I would voluntarily miss a meal if it meant I could fly. If you think about it, if you were to cut out one meal a day for a few weeks, you could probably save enough money for another hour of flying....! ;D 8) ;)

Paul...Flying is the most expensive pastime you can possibly think of... ...!

Actually, I can think of another type of 'entertainment' that's a bit more expensive. But this is a forum for younger people too, so I won't go there.... ;D

Not that I would know or anything...... :-X :-[ ;)

I'll stick to flying instead from now on ;)

Might get a PPL at some point if I have the time/money/motivation. Other than that, no.

A life of cruising round the Med and Carribbean first for me though. (Fingers crossed.)

I want a PPL for the achievement - not for regular use. I am happy with FS for most flying.  8)

As for my Carrer i plan to get a gliding scolarship ( So i can go solo in a glider when i am 16) and then go on to get a scolarship from the Raf and Become a pilot (hope fully fast jet)

Good for you Tom. Go for it but keep your options open and be fully prepared to work very hard to get fast jet, and graciously accept rotary or multi engined flying if it comes to it (if you get in! ;D) - it's all about the wings on your chest in the end, whether it be at 450kts and 100ft in a Tornado, 50ft in a Chinook or eating a curry on the way to Vegas in a C-130! Over on one of the professional forums there's a young university chap at the moment who thinks he's God's gift to the world and will be a fast jet pilot or nothing ('cos he's too good), and he's being (rightly) ripped apart by the residents...

Good luck chap... :)

Charlie (technically with no licenses at all!) ;D

I'm working on my PPL, and it is going to take a while because I go as I can afford it. I tend to take things one day at a time, so I will decide how much further I want to go with my ratings and licenses after I get my PPL. I would love to fly for a living, but I have no interest what-so-ever in flying big jets.

[quote]Obtaining a PPL, (Private Pilots Licence), licence for private use would be nice if you could afford it, but to earn a living in the industry as a carrier, (goods or passenger), I would imagine you would need a CPL, (Commercial Pilots Licence), involving the sort of costs listed above... :o...!
