It would have been nice, if not respectful, if Kember had said 'Thank's' to the people that risked their lives getting him out.

We still dont know if he actually did when the soldiers were rescuing him. They wont say as its just their job, and I dont know if Norman will remember much of the rescue. He did say thank you on his return regardless if most people think it was a forced thing to this backlash. Most soldiers I know dont want to be thanked for doing their job, especially the special forces guys. What bothers me is the activists who are saying it was because of themhe was released peacefully and they are glad the guys didn't use force to save them as they requested. The only reason no shots were fired was because there was no-one to shoot, you never go into a mission like that with the intention to not get into a fire fight, its just too dangerous.

I heard one of his Canadian colleagues giving a statement in which he thanked those who help in the rescue, without the political overtones of Norman Kember's statement.

Good on him... :)
