Norman Kember released

Postby Craig. » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:11 am

After quite a while of little to no news then the sad discovery of Tom Fox' body last week. It appears at this early stage Norman Kember and his Canadian collegues have been found alive in Baghdad. This is some good news out of Iraq.

Latest on this is that it was a military rescue. British and Canadian forces, sounds like the SAS have been busy boys perhaps.

Good news. Interesting to hear that it appears the captors fled before they got what was coming...

Well considering they were found bound to each other and tied up. I doubt the captors were to worried about them escaping. ::)

So, they weren't RELEASED, but rather, they were  RESCUED?

Yes, My original post/ title came from initial reports that they were released. It was then revealed after that they were rescued. As mentioned in the second post.

If someone who knew the exact whereabouts of the hostages was detained, I doubt the captors were too keen to hang around to defend their cause...

...I know what I'd do...

Great to see him released. I am really pleased.

We mustn't forget the US man that died though. :(

Glad to hear that they are safe.

My friend is in Iraq with the US Army, and he keeps telling me that I should get a job with one of the civillian contractors over there. He seems to think it's unlikely that I (or anyone else) would be kidnapped, yet we keep hearing that it's happening all the time.

Its not all the time, there are thousands of contracters over in Iraq. How many have been taken hostage or killed? Usually from what i have read its those who dont have body guards like Mr Kembers group or those who go off out of the green zone.

Usually the first things these people say is how this experience has made them stronger and how they have every intention of going back/retrying/doing what they were doing etc.  It may make them smarter, but I can't say much for their intelligence. ::) :P

So, they weren't RELEASED, but rather, they were  RESCUED?

Say it isn't so!  Lies! ::) ;D
