Who is Guy Fawkes

Postby denishc » Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:34 am

This weekend the movie "V for Vendetta" opened in theaters across the U.S. and has been well reviewed by movie critics.  The main character "V" keeps his face hidden behind a smiling mask of Guy Fawkes.  Forgive me for not knowing history but who was Fawkes and what was his place in history?

He's burnt on thousands of fires every year on November 5th in the UK. Due to Political correctness they are starting to replace him with paper flys/wasps and other things. ::)

He was going for the King actually. If he was only going for politians then he would have been let off with a warning.
