A Fire station in manchester has brought some reclining chairs that lay flat, to replace the beds... but the fire fighters arnt allowed to use them till they have gone on a training course...  ::) A FOUR YEAR OLD COULD USE THEM... and no-one else is allowed to use them inless they have a cerfticate to say they can.. Apparently it is because thay have moving parts.....

Just some things come by age - training isn't needed.

A sign of the times I'm afraid. You need a certificate to do almost anything these days. It's a wonder to me that small companies can cope with all the rules & regulations they're continually subjected to.

Folding chairs can be lethal.  Certain essential parts of the male anatomy can hang down and should the chair fold unexpectedly....  Ohhh the pain :-/

In the NHS you need a certificate to open a door and a seperate one to walk through it.  (NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)  courses 3326 and 47883)  Fortunately you can complete them at level three which means that you can credit them towards your degree.  I am working towards my BS in this way.  My dissertation is on the use of intracranial lead bolus delivered at 570 feet per second and its effect on waiting times and re-attendence at accident and emergency departments.  I hope to start the practical phase soon, I just need someone to sign off my "Firearms extended role for nurses" certificate (NMC 12555-9)

Teachers have a similar course to your "Firearms extended role for nurses" Will but with a much more punchy name we call it "Classroom Management"

The strangest "qualification" request I ever heard was from a Doctor (A Major) at NaTrang SF Base in Vietnam. He had just arrived and gave his orders to the Sergent checking in everyone. He was due to travel to Saigon to the definitive care unit.

The Sergent obviously didn't look at the orders nor very closely at the mans medical or rank insignia. He did notice that the Doctor didn't have a weapons qualification badge and asked if he was qualified to shoot a weapon, because, "In Vietnam, you need to know how to kill the enemy".  ::)

The Doctor gave him a great, "What a moron look" and replied, "Sergent, I'm a Doctor and I am Major. I am highly qualified in the proper procedures for the use of firearms and I know the precise locations to shoot someone to kill them. Would you like to see a demonstration?"

The Sergent had a great, "Oh $hit" look and ushered the Major quickly to his Huey for transportation in country.  ;D
