Reminds me of the one time I did the "message in a bottle" thing: when I was just a kid, I put a note with my address in a bottle and hurled it as far as I could into the surf at the NJ shore.
 Expecting to eventually have a pen pal in Africa or some such exotic place, I was bemused to get a reply later that summer from a lady who found it a ways south on the same beach (never even made it out with the tide).
What's odd about it is that she lived on my street!!
