The IPod Shuffle.

Postby Katahu » Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:02 pm

Just yesterday, I bought a Philips MP3 player with 2GB of room for only $129. However, when I used the player, it didn't work and it took me a while to realise that there is a defect. So I returned it and I had my money credited back to my account.

While returning the item, this is when the store clerk warned me about the IPod Shuffle. It too has a defect [in some form or another] and she knows this because customers of the product were constantly returning it to the store almost everyday.

So, with that in mind, I bought a Samsung MP3 player with only 512MB space for $118. It's a bit expensive for a small little thing, but at least it works. As for the space, it may be small, but I don't listen to a lot of music in a given time. I usually keep a collection of at least 50 songs [even on my computer with all its space].

So, to pass on the warning, I'm just letting you know to stay away from the IPod Shuffle if you have a nasty habit of throwing away your reciept.

Is the IPod Shuffle something different from the regular IPod?

yes, cause i own one, and it works fine, no problems with it yet.

the ipod shuffle basically goes like this:

no screen
shuffles about 200 songs
all directions are lit up by two lights.
the instruction manual is the size of a credit card

so yeah... nothing special

the good thing however is that you dont need a special cable to charge it and sync it. it only need standard USB.

problem is that once it's formatted for PC or MAC, it can't be used by the other (ie format for PC, can't be used on a MAC0

it's got it's goods and bads, but in the end, a good product.

My brother has a regular IPod that has a screen. The unit is so small, he could almost store it in his wallet ;D

I have the Shuffle aswell, not a bad piece of kit, I prefer the mini but when I go skateboarding or something I use my Shuffle its less prone to getting destroyed and if it does, at least it doesnt cost as much as a regular.

Gowever, my friend has a shuffle aswell and dont ask me what he did to it but any earphones you plug into it get destroyed within thirty minutes, as in they just wont work anymore! Ruined 3 sets of earphones and nearly a 4th before realising. :)

Cheers

A lot of the guys I work with have shuffles and they have had no problems with them, the earphones that come with the Ipods are crap, but I know those guys were emailing apple and getting free replacements.
I personally have the big Ipod (60G) but I never used the phones that came with the unit, I had heard of all the problems with them and just bought some good ones right from the start.

The shuffle is way too small for me, I started out with the 4G mini and had it full in no time, currently I have almost 6000 songs on my Ipod.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

I've had a proper Ipod for about 2 years now. A proper G3 model too. I think Apple ruined it with the G4. Anyway, it's always been great, though I need to get the battery replaced now.

I think Fozzer is the one enjoying the good old times. Isn't he the one who uses nothing more than a radio? ;D

I was considering buying a Shuffle for someone at Crimbo, but I read a few reviews, and one thing kept on coming up, the battery...

So I went for a Creative Mp3 player instead, and it's very nice indeed (and despite its size has a nice little screen)...

there's absolutely nothing wrong with CD's. they are still the norm. not to mention you could still fit250 mp3's on it, which beats a shuffle!

:)Ramos- who had a dell, broke it, got another, broke it, got a shuffle, still use it, but i use my car stereo most of the time.:P
