Somehow I thought money brought about a difference

Why would you think that Ben? I think you have a lot to learn.

Money doesn't change anyone's character. It just means they can afford to do more exotic things, live in mansions & afford expensive lawyers to get them out of trouble they will inevitably get themselves into. People with money often aren't satisfied with what they've got & spend their time cheating others out of even more. That's probably how they became rich in the first place. Some of the wealthiest people on the planet are criminals.

The only thing surprising here is they actually got into trouble.  It seems those with dough never get sent to the big house, not naming any names though...  SIMPSON JACKSON! :-X

Man, this guy sounds like a real piece of work. Unfortunately like the Scorpion said justice can be bought all too easily here in the US with cash ond or social status. If you do go after these people credible witnesses and good, hard substancial evidence is the key.

This chap's only a small-time thug. This is how they operate in the big league. Get others to do the dirty work. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3301361.stm

[quote]As the manslaughter conviction of millionaire property developer Nicholas van Hoogstraten is quashed, BBC News Online looks at his business practices and private life.

Once heralded as Britain's youngest millionaire, Nicholas van Hoogstraten has never made any secret of his robust approach to business.

He has spoken warmly of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, whom he once described as "100% decent and incorruptible". He holds vast fortunes in the African country and once said: "I don't believe in democracy, I believe in rule by the fittest."

no stranger to controversy and his list of previous convictions includes ordering a grenade attack on the home of a business associate, a Jewish clergyman who he claimed owed him money.

For that he spent four years in Wormwood Scrubs in the 1960s, but he says he has done "all sorts of things one shouldn't strictly do".

Mr Van Hoogstraten also hit the headlines during an ugly spat with ramblers over a public footpath through the grounds of the enormous mansion he is building near Uckfield in East Sussex.

Did you know that the legal system in the US is really no different than the legal system that the Ancient Romans had back when Rome was the most powerful nation?

Both systems had a jury [the number of jury varies though].
Both used lawyers.
In both cases, the wealthy almost always got away via the loophole.

Let's not forget, also, that most millionaires do not get where they are by being nice... often the contrary.

Bastards...

Absolute Bastards!

But also true what both Clipper and Hagar said...many people with money think they're better than everyone else (however they may have cheated to get it).

Nope. Unfortunately, however, many of the latter become the former because of their illigitimate actions. Which ones make the most indelible news?

""""He could see that Mr Gizzi had a weapon. Mr Gizzi was under no conceivable threat from Mr Owen. The assault went on for quite a while." """

But there are no firearms in the UK, right. So how was this guy supposed to defend himself from a criminal?

Damn shame that liberals have made the honest man a  victim to the criminals.

Now it doesn't say how old the "homeless" man was, and I guess that the liberal ideal didn't hold true this time. Because where was the police officer?

I really believe that self defense is a GOD given RIGHT. How is some old lady, or man, suppose to defend him or herself against someone that is bigger, in better shape, outnumbered? Damn shame, this kind of story is. Happens everywhere. But mostly in the liberal mind set places, or as some call it "gun control utopias"

I could post this kind of story every day for the rest of my life. But it will make no differance cause the liberals will just keep 'banning' 'THAT" kind of weapon. This will have no effect on the criminal because he has no regard for the law to begin with.

This story for example. How could this happen I thought that firearms were outlawed? So this story just has to be false right? Now the knife, is it time to outlaw them too? Oh no that won't do any good, because all of the good guys will turn in there knives and those with the criminal mind won't. Further making the good guy more of a victim.
