In the UK car insurance is a legal requirement so might i add...
3. I have to have insurance... it's the law.

That's true but it's been proved that there's literally thousands of people driving untaxed & uninsured vehicles in the UK.* You can't renew your road tax without a valid certificate of insurance so some people don't bother with either. I don't know what would happen if you were involved in an acccident with one of these criminals. They're breaking the law so are therefore criminals but from what I can make out the fines are laughable if they get caught - so once again it's the honest law-abiding people that suffer.

*PS. If a vehicle is untaxed there's no way of tracing the owner if it's caught on a Gatso traffic camera. This means they can break as many speed limits as they like & are above the law. ::)

SUE THEM FOR 1 MILLION!!!!!  ;D
Here there are mandatory coverages you need to have.
One of them being Uninsured/Underinsured.
This coverage is used in the event somebody causes bodily injury to you that has NO insurance. Your policy would now protect you.

Granted, 25% of the people driving around carry the bare minimum of 10/20 and or no insurance at all!!

If you have license plates on a car and do not have insurance in force on the vehicle, the DMV will fine you $8.00 a day!  :o

Well, I've been looking for a nice little used car since yesterday morning, and found one that sounded promising. I got a ride down to look at a little '94 Nissan Sentra. After looking it over, and test driving it, the dealer gave me a good deal on it so I bought it.

I didn't get back into town in time to register the car, have my old license plates switched to this vehicle, and set up the insurance, so I'm going to have to run into town in the morning and take care of it.

As for the insurance, I think I'll go into town and talk to the local Allstate insurance agent, and my old one, and try to make a decision there. I want my own account, but I don't want to do everything the same as my mom, and grandparents just because they do

It's not as powerfull as the escort was, but I checked my gas mileage for the drive home. I filled the tank up, drove 84.1 miles, and it only took 1.5 gallons of fuel to fill it back up again. That's 56 miles to the gallon :o

Well, since we are talking insurance,
Allstate just made it official that we are no longer writing any new homeowner polices here on Long Island.
