Good job I have a sense of humour. With all these new rules & regulations constantly coming at me from all directions I wouldn't have lasted long in my job without it. You have to see the funny side of these things or it could easily drive you right round the bend.

Excellent, I think from now on I'm going to use non-un-inflammable.  If your going to confuse people, might as well do a good job of it.

That was the whole basis of the misunderstanding & why the word flammable was invented. That's what's so amusing about it. The whole thing is based on a complete fallacy.

PS. You really need a good understanding of the English language to appreciate the joke. The bureaucrats responsible for those regulations obviously didn't understand it or needed a sense of humour transplant, like most of their ilk.

I can't go back so far to know from memory when "flammable" came into use. I do remember seeing "inflammable" warnings, however. The dictionary (at least, this one) still states: [b]flam
