It's a set of charts that show how certain FS Community websites Rank with the others at certain times.

I'm glad FSPlanet and FSFreeware are struggling, compared! FSFreeware used to be a good site, back when the website name actually meant something. FSPlanet is just plain crap. ;D

What I find interesting  - and remember that you can get statistics to prove anything - is what the peaks (presumably higher/popular usage) correlate to?

For example, the major sites - flightsim, avsim, simviation, appear to have had a spike in the past week...  does that correlate with the release of a particularly popular model?

My thought is that Rick Piper's AW Argosy, released in the past week, may have provided some of that peak...

Nope...... SimV is actually higher overall for the period shown , I think.  The fall months are pretty neck and neck, but for some reason SimV runs FAR more traffic in the summer months than Avsim does.  Maybe a lot of younger users (high school and college) that have more time when school is out?  Who knows.

best,

ok...........NEVER TRUST STATISTICS!

Statistics can always be interpretated in many ways. You can look at who is growing in activity and who is the biggest and stuff like that but one will say that avsim is by far the largest...another will say that it isn't. it's all a matter of interpretation..

second of all the source is kinda partial.....Avsim need ads, that is why you HAVE to register there. Flightsim.com works the same way. Simv is another matter since Pete aims for Freeware FS stuff (I think) What I'm trying to say is that Avsim benefits a lot from these kinda "Statistics". By no means am I implying that these "Statistics" are untrue.......but

NEVER JUST TRUST STATISTICS! They are usually BIG lies....

Of course in my current studies I'm learning how to produce those statistics :P

Commercial Economics Soui........ ;D

P.S.    Ow yeah....WE DO ROCK! Thanks Pete !

Soui brings a good point.

Without a good understanding of how the statistics were obtained, under what circumstances, and what they are really measuring, one has to take them with a grain of salt.

The reality of the flightsim "market" is that fligthsim.com, avsim.com, and simviation.com are the top three - or as I've heard it referred, the "holy trinity" of flightsim websites.

I've heard it referred, the "holy trinity" of flightsim websites.

In the beginning, there was nothing. So Pete said "Let there be light"! On the first day, he created SimViation. From there, the forums emerged and all the loonies and crazed doctors came together to form a vast and powerful force led by Sgt. Omag. Then came AvSim and then Flightsim.

On the second day, they came together to form the Holy trinity of the FS community. Pete then said "Be fruitfully insane and multiply" [I hope our avatars are up to the task]. Then, on the third day, Pete rested.

More to come. ;D ;D ;D
