Entirely Too Close

Postby MattNW » Tue Nov 15, 2005 10:59 pm

Had some thunderstorms through here today. Was a big cell coming up from the southwest and I was watching it out the window. Sky was looking really wierd and I heard a roar I thought at first was thunder but it didn't die out. We headed for the laundry room until things cleared up.

Found out later that a tornado passed less than a mile from the house. Somone's home about a mile north east was flattened completely to the foudation they're ooking for that house in Oz right now. Luckily no reported injuries however but a neighbor has a tree through his living room tonight.

sounds scary.  Cold front just hit us like a ton of bricks about 5 hours ago.  There was one thunder that was a huge boom, followed by a lot of low rumbling noise.  Sounded like the FA-18 at the airshow after its really high spead pass

You must be north or west of us. Just now noticing the wind swinging around from SE to W and NW and expect the temps to drop soon. Just got a new stove and I'll be installing it in the cold tomorrow. Glad it came in today so I can use it cause it looks like it's going to be needed.

Take back that no injuries. One person with a broken leg and less than two miles from here they are having a hard time getting into the area because of debris and downed power lines. Still power here at our place.

The sky turned yellow again.  It always happens when I don't have my camera. :P I suppose this is the sunset plus the clouds scattering the light?  Who knows.  Nothing but some rain around these parts.

We had rain and then snow, then both at the same time today with lots of wind and temps around 30* F. It's been a nasty day.

Um, wanna guess again? lol, try directly south.  Cold front just arrived yesterday, so we went from 80 degree weather to 50

Took a ride up the road to see if anyone needed any help cleaning up. There was multiple tornados from the same storm. One field had 5 paths through it. Two houses totally gone (nobody home at the time luckily), a hog barn (hogs are OK) and a chicken barn (somewhere to the north east it was raining chickens yesterday  ;D).

At least people believed me this time when I said there was a tornado. I witnessed the Easter tornado in the 70's Indianapolis when I was 6. We had a bunch of company over for the holiday and I went inside and told them there was a tornado outside. They thought I was pretending and my uncle told me to go chase it away. About that second the sirens went off. I said, "I told you there was a tornado".  ;D

About that second the sirens went off.

I wish Houston had a siren.  Either that or big cities don't use them.
