Nothing on BBC Radio News either. Despite my opinions of the "media" in general, Auntie Beeb is still better than most & does make an attempt to check its facts before broadcasting them.

Could very well be a hoax, but there are some people that are extremely paranoid about things like this, too. People thinking discarded, plastic carrier bags contain bombs. Things like this get to people too easily.

We had a bomb 'scare' at my high school a few years back. Of course, being 11 or so meant that standing out on the field for a bit was just a way of getting out of lessons. Completely unphased :P Turned out to be a pupil ringing in. Can't really get much thicker than ringing in about something like that. The call was tracked, and they got their punishment... ::)

This reminds me:

A friend back in Tech School told me about this sort of this when HE was in high school. He said that the high school students evacuated out of building and into a football field. He said he was in the field when he noticed a container that had a taped note on it saying "BOMB". Obviously, the container didn't have a bomb at all, it was a fake.

But if it did, it would have become a major attack since everyone in the school were grouped together like tuna in a can.

It makes me wonder, would it even be wise to evacuate and then be exposed to the elements like that, given the possibility? Besides, if an explosion occured INSIDE, the blast would easily be contained and supressed by the building's structure. And don't forget, schools here in the US have class rooms that are usually seperated with concrete walls. Some schools are even built to take on a Cat 3 hurricane.

Hey kat dont worry. My old school used to evacuate us in emergencys onto a tarmac car park. The problem was, underneath the car-park was the schools gas supply. Well one day the school cantiene went up in flames, and of course the gas they use goes under that car park. Needless to say, We all questioned the sense of safely waiting on a timebomb ::)

Well, anyone with a modicum of sense would have evacuated the building, leaving the bloomin' bomb where it was. ::)

I would rather take my chances outside in the open air than stuck inside a building with a suspect unexploded bomb. I don't care how well the building's constructed, I could be in the same room as the bomb.

Now you see why there was so much emphasis on running at school in the 70's and 80's! So we could get the hell away from any potential bomb FAST ;D

In Hungary they seem to know how to deal with criminals. Over here he would have been let off almost certainly if under 16. If over 16 he may have just got a telling off or a few hours community work if he had no previous convictions. ::)

Over here the police and judges have their sense of humour along with any compassion surgically removed. It means that barring people with political protection(that dark and highly personal area for me!)  the justice system does seem to work...
