It is much more understandable than some things I've seen. Not defending her exactly, but she obviously thought she'd get charged with murder or manslaughter through gross negligence to the baby. She must feel terrible and the emotional side must be terrible too. Probably was very recent and she may need medical help (as dogs are quick to find things).
