You mean 'achievement'? ;)

Yes, that's what I mean.  Thanks for the correction.

You're not. I just don't want to get blamed for starting a political argument ;)

OK, so maybe I should keep quiet. I think this thread is a good demonstration of how people would rather talk about a fictional character in a film than discuss something that could affect us all. That says it all really. ;)

Anyway, I know the James Bond films have been made in the UK, up till now that is. I have no idea whether this was by a British film company but I'm sure it was done with American investment. I've seen some criticism of how the new one is being handled & since Cubby Broccoli died I don't know if any of the original crew is still involved. http://www.cubbybroccoli.com/

Am I the only one to think that this is important & possibly a tad worrying? ::)

I'm not going to speculate on what China's intentions are but they certainly aor moving at a fast pace.

Huh? I was quoting one of Doug's posts. It's a rare occasion he lets a misspelled word slip by him ;)

Suddenly I realize that!  I thought the mnisspelling was mine.  Usually my spelling is so bad its not fanny!

Well, I have a strange sense of deja vu. I'm wondering the same things now as I did when the USSR did much the same over 40 years ago. It was a wonderful achievement but it always had sinister overtones. If they can put a man into space what else can they do & what are their real reasons for doing it? If I can see them it's obvious they can see me. Do you get my drift?

I'm sure I'm not the only one to be thinking these things so why has it all gone quiet? Maybe I'm wrong about that because, as I've said before, I very rarely watch TV but I've seen nothing about it in the newspapers except for a brief report that they'd done it. This was not even on the front page.

Oops. I missed that one. You're too quick for me but then you're a little younger. You'll be like me one day. :P :D

... now on their second launch, China ...
Actually, it's at least its 3rd such launch: they tried to send one of their emperors to the moon many centuries ago (they thought the moon was only 50 miles away at the time). ::)

Not to deter but, rather allegorically, a great many of the streams and ponds in the US Midwest are mud and silt clouded. A visitor from the Midwest looked off the end of the pier (Lake Winnipesaukee) and said, "This isn't fair -- I can see the fish!" I responded, "If you can see them, they can see you." The real truth is that, even though you may not see the fish in the midwest, they can probably see you.
Have you questioned why the U.S. could retire the Blackbird? :o 8)
