Survivor New Orleans Edition.   You don't get voted out of the city, you just get your government issued debit cards revoked for improper purchases.

Gents... let's not forget that in the grand scheme of things, the Hurricanes in the US last year and this are economically devastating, the human cost pales in comparison with the toll from the tsunami and earthquake in SE Asia just this year.

Of course, from *my* selfish point of view, that's all fine and good, but it's MY house that's (at this point) around 75 miles (give or take) directly North of where the current path it projected to be on Saturday.

What amazes me is that the storm is expected to travel something like 500 miles in ONE 24-hour period ... I truly hope that's the case.  It's also expected to weaken considerably by the time it "hits" Florida.

If I'm not back posting on Monday ....

According to the weather reports which are all over S. Florida's TV news by now, Hagar's map will probably be held accurate as we here all watch and wait for this.  It's supposed to downspeed and hit at a category 2 tho.  I am in an area that is outside of flood zones and has never even lightly flooded over the past 50 years, that's always reassuring.  And we have plenty of time this time to prepare.  But we all are experiencing a "Oh no, not again" scenerio.  Not fun.

Are you guys forgeting that any hurricane that gets into the Gulf are juiced up along the way? Look at Katrina and Rita. Already a Cat 5 and it just entering the Gulf. :o

People in Florida may spaz out and go nuts, but at least they have enough common sence to NOT TAKE ANY CHANCES.

Right now its slowed down in it's movement, this could be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that its time near land will dissapate its speed lowering it to a cat 2 or less storm before hitting land, or bad, in that it hits warm water having pleanty of time to speed up again. Lets hope its the first.
