Postby legoalex2000 » Tue Oct 04, 2005 1:58 pm

i've been wondering for a while, for the people who don't live in english speaking countries, or don't have ESL (english as 2nd language) is SimViation translated into your languag or do you read this in english?

It has to be in English Ramos, however you'd be amazed at the amount of bilingual and polyglot members we have to help out ;)

Polyglot - speaks mother tongue plus 2 or more languages
Bilingual - speaks mother tongue plus one other language

It's not perfect but the Google Toolbar has a feature to translate webpages into many different languages. This is also an option on a standard Google search depending on which version of Google you use. I have the UK version so some foreign webpages can be translated into English, also depending on the langauge they're written in. Some, like Japanese, might be beyond its capabilties. I find this very useful when browsing sites in other languages.

How well does that translate? my experience with automatic translators has been pretty bad, as in you can't understand it even after it's in English.

As I said, it's not perfect & that's an understatement. However, if it can translate a few key words I can usually get the gist of what I wanted to know.

I think I remember hearing someplace around here that since English is the international language of airline pilots, Simviation goes by the same code  ;)

For an example read this: http://avions.legendaires.free.fr/MANmoranesaulnier.php

Now read the automatically translated version HERE.

Translations work better in some languages then others...I have both Japanese and Chinese translaters on this computer.  If i go to a chinese site then it translates pretty well...if its japanese then its nearly impossible to read.

Personaly the only language i am fluent in is english :-[
But due to my old girlfriend accidently sending me things in Chinese I have managed to pick up a little bit here and there just by reading the translated version and the use of online sources ;)

And ozzy you reminded me of one of the exchange students last year...He was german and was making a joke similar to what you said.

Trilingual means you speak 3 languages
Bilingual you speak 2
and Monolingual...Your american ::)

Seems to be quite true for most people :P

There are some things I have learned when I was young.

In America, you speak English. However, in Florida and California, you speak Latin. ;D

Do you mean Latin or Spanish? I speak neither but did study Latin at school. I believe there is a considerable difference.

Doug, he means  "Latin American"- Spanish and Portuguese.
Yes, the Latin I study at school and the one you studied at school is quite different to "Latin American".
I wonder if its possible to translate SimV into Latin?
