Postby GuitarFreak » Wed Sep 21, 2005 8:56 pm

in case you missed it, a jet blue A320 took off from burbank and there was a malfunction with the landing gear. the nose gear was turned 90 degrees and they had to land at lax. it was the most amazing landing ive ever seen...check cnn for videos.

Talk about location, I saw it right as my CFI and myself were returning to the terminal building after my night x-country today.  It was absolutely unbelievable, what a landing!

That's quite an impressive piece of landing gear! I would have expected it to collapse completely...

Not quite the same but I saw this happen with the prototype Beagle 206. Ironically it was being tested for certification by the CAA chief test pilot. He did an immaculate landing & the nosewheel straightened up as soon as it touched the runway. They must have convinced him that they could fix the problem as he apparently signed it off without testing it all over again.

PS. I don't think they ever fixed that problem as the 206 & Basset suffered from constant noseleg failures. Charlie will bear me out on that. ;)

Only read about it in the newspaper.
Couldn't care less 'though.

I haven't seen the vid or watched this on TV. I'm sure the pilots deserve all the credit they get but just remember one thing. It's their necks too & they're the ones up the pointy end. ;)
