Marry your ma-in-law?

If it doesn't fit .. It fits here .. - -

You missed my point Hereitc. It is in breach of human rights (well according to that) what ever the reason.

If it wasn't for some kind of school duty, far less people would have an education. ::)

No, it is in serious breach of it. The worst and most evil men in history were not homeschooled such as Hitler and Stalin and the most radical religous terrorists you can get these days would go through school.

It's not school what made them evil. It were other things in their lives.

Most folk that homeschool do so because of the rubbish taught in schools and the distasteful environment that kids have to face there.

School is not about the basic education at all. It also teaches to cope with society and its problems.
I haven't learned rubbish in school at all and my school environment was superb.

A number of folk here have been homeschooled, including myself, and none of our parents would agree with your proposed reasons for teaching us at home in preference to school!

Sick.

Well unless your from Arkansas, its highly unlikely theres any blood relation to the in-law. So apart from a conscious desicion i cant see a problem. Not that i ever would, but i dont see what peoples problem is.

All I see is a jumble:
If I read correctly, the C went to L.
Then W came out of L.
C got away from L...
Then B went to L

??? ???  :o ....
Oh, oh... either this is becoming very religious or Saitek is going to get me for profanity. :-[

Yeah

So why is religous fundamentalism attacked by the government?

Religous fundamentalism isn't a good thing, that is why. Everyone should be allowed to beleive in whatever they want (I am an aesthiest, did I spell that right? ;D). Kansas is one of the worst fundamentalist states. Children aren't allowed to know about the evolution theory in some places like that state of the US.

I'm not sure I would like to do it one day but there shouldn't be anything wrong with it and in my opinion fundos should keep out of this biz.

I should have known better than post this. It was intended as a poke at the stupid beaurocrats in the EU - a political subject which is quite rightly banned here. It seems to have turned into a debate on religious & moral issues so it might be best to delete the whole thing.

There is no legal reason a man couldn't marry his mother-in-law or his daughter-in-law if he so wished as there is no blood relationship. However, there are moral & religious objections which is why this is illegal in the UK. This is apparently not so in other countries so if they feel so strongly about it they could simply have been married there. This affects very few people & I see no reason for causing all this fuss & forcing a change in the law. We have long-established procedures for doing that right here & I feel this is a good example of abusing the Human Rights act. This is a fine thing in principle but it was never intended for petty things like this. There are far more serious issues those Human Rights judges could be spending their time on.

If I comment on that it will simply make things worse. My views on this subject would undoubtedly upset a lot of my friends here. I have no wish to do that & some things are better left unsaid. :-X

PS. I fear it might be too late as some members of this forum that I once regarded as good friends now completely ignore me. Me & my big mouth. ::)

Doug,
I'm sure if you had said anything really contraversial, you'd have gotten a slap on the wrist by now and this would be locked. I know you and I talk privately about some of those things, and to be honest I can't see most upsetting people here. But just the rules preventing you from saying these things.
Oh well cant please everybody all the time mate. ;)

That's true Craig. I have strong views on most subjects, some of which I know would undoubtedly cause offence. To avoid this I try to bite my tongue & keep my more controversial opinions to myself. This is not always successful which leads to me saying something I might regret later. I'm not in the habit of saying things behind people's backs that I wouldn't say to their faces. My problem has always been that I'm too honest & was never afraid of saying what I think.

PS. I think it's a mistake to know too much about people. By reading between the lines in their posts I already know far more about most regulars here than they might realise without them going into specific details or revealing personal information.

I think I must be the most contraversial person here as my views are so different.
I have to say Doug, I find you the least most contraversial/mouthy or whatever of all the members on here. I can guarentee that even if I don't agree with you I know I won't get offended by the tone you said it in. 8) If only a few more Hagars resided here!

So I doubt anyone else would have problems. :)

Thanks Ben but I'm not sure others would agree with that. I'm quite certain that I've offended many people here in my time. This was never intentional & I was simply saying what I think. That's how I was brought up.
