Please read the rules

Postby Craig. » Mon Sep 12, 2005 5:40 pm

I know its not really my place to say this, but i ask this as a request out of courtesy more than anything.
This is for both new and older members, things like being polite and respectful to other members, keep the cursing to absolute minimum, the whole images topic, today i have seen quite a few linked images, most have now been uploaded here, but please just do it straight away to avoid any problems and embarressment. And no text speak. At least try to make your posts understandable.

I haven't got a clue - it's what chav's finish their sentences with over here.

I.E.

'Yeah m8te it's blingin' innit' (Followed by general pikeyness)

apparently that translates to:

'Of course mate, it's very good isn't it' (Followed by going to work & actually earning a living)

;D

I've been wondering for a while now, what is a chav?

I Googled it. Think this covers it. ;)

Chav is a slang term in popular usage throughout the United Kingdom, usually used in a derogatory fashion, referring to a subculture stereotype of a person with: fashions such as brand-name tracksuits with white trainers, and sometimes flashy 'bling' jewellery and/or flat fronted, occasionally Burberry caps; a magnetic attraction to congregation points (sometimes known as chavaramas) such as fast-food outlets or other shopping areas; a concentrated music taste (centred loosely around Rhythm and blues, Rap and Hip Hop); and a culture of antisocial behaviour.

The label implies someone who is uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behavior. The label is typically, though not exclusively, applied to teenagers and young adults of working class or lower-middle class origin. Response to the term has ranged from acceptance to criticism that the term is a new manifestation of classism.

Chav is used for both sexes; a male chav may sometimes be referred to as a chavster and a female as a chavette. (A more complete list of synonyms can be found in the Derived and Similar Terms section below.) It is similar to the United States terms wigger (although many chavs are part of multi-ethnic inner city communities like London council estates) or trailer trash, or the Australian term bogan. "Chav" is of recent origin, and came into widespread use in 2004.

The term may also be used as an adjective; for instance, a certain car might be refered to as "chav", or a person may be said to dress "chav", if the car or dress match the image of a chav.

I'm a strict adhearent to those rules.

No swearing - ever.
No malicious arguing - ever.
No silly MSN etc writing ever.
No linking images since I was first told.
I always try to be polite and accept others views, but have had brief failings like everyone (my only blots are a few instances in the jokes section :P).

Anyone here contradict that? ;) More particularly the 1st four - You'll never ever dig up anything that will support it that I have written.

Now, I'm not blowing my own trumpet, just showing that if I can be the above - I think anyone can. It isn't hard.
It isn't like it is a spur of the moment writing. It takes a "long" time to write out words and it is impossible to accidentally hit them into the keyboard.

Thanks for the reminder Craig. ;D

There's a very old adage that's worth remembering. "Rules are made to be broken".

I'm not advocating breaking the few rules we have on this forum but adhering strictly to rules & regulations, even if they're wrong, is a very misguided philosophy. IMHO

We have rules?

Just kidding.

I try to abide by the rules..

I've seen lots of things which with a bit of integrity didn't have to be..

Nice reminder Craig

It's a quote. I never heard the word before & have no idea what it means. My apologies if it's offensive.
