Batteries -- an alternating current motor won't work with batteries without an inverter... ??? Hey! Why didn't someone tell me I was supposed to use a direct current motor >:(!  8)

Hey I didn't say what kind of motor ;D Heck if you are that worried why not learn to use the pedals? ;D
We can actually get a moped/bicycle hybrid here that you pedal in town and use the motor out of town... looks damn silly!

Joking aside, electric-powered bicycles have been available in the UK for some time. They're becoming very popular & I see them all the time. They still have pedals & can be pedalled like a conventional push-bike so range is not an issue. This theroetically helps to recharge the battery. Here's just one of the various types on the market. http://www.point-and-go.com/

For in town, they have motorized scooters and there are the moped hybrids here, too. I exist (not sure I should call it living:P) and work out of town; a back road across the rivers and over the hill is the shortest distance to and fro.

Indeed. An accident waiting to happen. Makes me squirm to think about it. The C5 wasn't such a stupid idea, just a misguided concept. If he'd put the same amount of effort & investment into something more conventional like that one in my link it stood every chance of success. At least other road users would have some chance of seeing the blasted thing. ::)

I got caught in the middle of posts; anybody got a picture of the ill-fated Sinclair?
