Flying actually...

Landed and came into the crewroom and saw what was happening on the TV. Went for a debrief and returned as the first tower collapsed. Then went for a debrief on my annual report to return to the second tower falling.

Flew again on the 12th as soon as we'd got clearance to fly again.

I was in my English class when they turned on the tv. First there was just a smoking building and the news crew believe it might have been an accident. However, it didn't look like an accident after the second plane hit.

Then came my next-period class [JROTC]. We had the tv on throughout the whole period. My senior instructor quickly then notified the whole class that the pentagon was hit. The news confirmed it. Then the news talked about a fourth plane - Flight 93 -

That's all I have to say about this.

First period science class in the 8th grade.  We had just started working on our mini roller coasters.  The teacher had CNN on from the time we got there.  It just showed the first tower on fire and most of us thought it was some kind of accident and didnt really pay much attention.  Mind you not to many of us really knew much about the WTC.  I will never forget what I saw next...I had just looked back up at the tv...right then the second plane slammed into the second tower.  More surprised at first then shock at what I just saw   :(

Then later in the class period they started saying there was smoke coming from the pentagon and later flight 93 in the field :(

Had to go to math next and the teacher wouldnt let us watch it since we had a test.  3rd period was history...Which of course we were going to watch it.  Within that class period both towers fell :(

I just remember the odd feelings that day and how things had just unfolded.  It was strange after school to look up into a cristal clear sky and not see any jet contrails.  There were always several over our place  :-/

Backing out of my driveway, on my way to work.  Turned on the radio, and immediately knew something big had happened, but it wasn't clear as to exactly what.  At work, 5 min later, they had the TV on.  The buildings had not yet collapsed.  After they did, I e-mailed my cousin in Denver, "By chance, was anyone we know in the buildings?".  She got back to me 10 days later: Her sister's husband, for some reason, woke up early as usual but decided not to go in to his cab-driving job at the Trade Center that day.  Also called another cousin, other side of family.  Everyone OK, but found out that one cousin, who worked there at the 1993 bombing, had since moved his office uptown.  A very black day it was indeed.

I got in my car, turned on the radio, and the news was on. Weird considering it was a regular music station. The reporter was in the middle of say "Yes, we are pretty sure this was a freak accident" then seconds later "OH MY GOD! a second plane just hit the second tower, this is NOT an accident". At first I thought it was a stupid radio prank, but they kept going with it. I was on my way to my first job interview, and when I got there, they had the TV on, and thats when I realized that this was for real. I saw the first tower collapse, and then i had to fill out some insurance forms or something, and couldnt see the TV. The interview lady for some reason felt the need to come and tell me that the second tower had also collapsed. After I was done there, I went home and watched TV for the rest of the day, and then had band practice that night. We ended up just watching the news. One thing I remember particularly was my dad pointing out how empty the sky was. Thats something none of us are likely ever to see again.

I was driving through Southend on Sea in Essex, UK, I was listening to BBC Radio 5 Live when they announced a plane had hit one of the WTC towers, at the time, I found it strange such a thing could happen by accident.

t was my break time, so I stopped my truck, turned off the radio & went to sleep for an hour or so, I was utterly horrified when I woke up & re-tuned to hear what was by then unfolding as the biggest terrorist attack in history.

still chills me to think about it today.

I was 13 years old in the seventh grade. I had gotten up and started to make my lunch for school that day and my dad called around 7:00 a.m (9:00 am EST). He worked at the naval base here in town at the time and he just said "turn on the TV, we're under attack" so we did. Then I had to go to school right after the first tower fell. At school, nobody talked about the attacks nor did we watch them in class...I knew what the twin towers were (I've seen them before), but I didn't know they were the WTC buildings.

amerika

It's America.  I'm sure you knew that though. ;)

At school and I remeber going to band class after just hearing about it and someone started to play taps but the teacher just yelled at us for doing that.  So I remember sitting and watching the news and just feeling sick watching the video of the second airplane knowing that something that so many people (myself included) love had been used in such a horrible way.

I noticed on my way to school the next day how there were absolutely no airplanes or contrails in the sky (usually you can see quite a few from where I live).  That was one of those "whoa" moments when I realized there was absolutely no-body in the air that day except for the military and the magnitude of what happened hit me again.

When the attack happened I was sleeping because it was pretty earily in the morning.  The first plane hit the WTC at 8:45am EDT, so it was 5:45am on the west coast were I live (I usually got up around 6:30am).  I was in high school at the time, I was 16 and just starting my junior year.

I remember that my father came into my room at about 6am and told me to turn on the TV because a plane had just hit one of the twin towers in NYC.  I turned on the TV and the second plane had just hit.  I remember that the moment I turned it on I saw the first building with black smoke pouring out of it and then the second building got it (it may have been a replay of the second plane hitting but it woke me up).  I remember I was thinking it was an accident when I turned on the TV but when the second plane hit I knew it wasn't.

I got up and got ready for my day at school but I kept a closer eye on the TV during the morning.  When I got out of the shower, I went directly to the TV and all I could see was a brownish/grey haze.  One of the towers had just collapsed.  I went to school and had a relatively normal day considering.  They shielded us away from TVs for most of the day because they didn't want us distracted-but we still managed to find out what was going on throughout the day.

I also remember I got introuble that day at school (well, sort of).  We had a water polo game that day which got cancelled.  Upon hearing of the cancellation-I removed my tie (school tradition was to dress up on game days) and I got chewed out my the team captain.   ::)
